We have been to Cornwall a few times this year and been involved in some lovely weddings. Today’s was no exception although sadly the weather was not as hot and sunny as it had been the day before in Coventry.
Tom had a lot of musicians and entertainment lined up during the course of his wedding to Emma and our job today was to play for the ceremony and a short drinks reception.
The Wedding Ceremony
Tom had chosen some lovely music, and also some quite unusual choices which was great. As the Groom, Groomsmen and bridesmaid walked in we played ‘Video Games’ by Lana del Rey and then for the Bridal Entrance it was Lovely by Billie Eilish.
At the end of the outdoor service we played Home by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.
As the weather was a light drizzle, we managed to set up just under the cover of the ceremony room. This also put us right next to Tom and Emma when they actually got married and signed the register. Unusually the wedding signing took place first and then the rest of the ceremony was conducted outside. This meant the bride walked down the aisle and then the bridal party all came back up the aisle to go indoors!
After the ceremony because of the weather we stayed in the same location as luckily the drinks reception was held outside but just round the corner from where we were playing. This was an occasion where we had to use our small Mic and PA just to boost the levels of the Cello. A little subtle amplification works well and everyone enjoyed the tracks we played during the drinks reception.
Thomas and Emma’s wedding was a lovely occasion and not at all hampered by the British weather doing its thing of not quite raining and not quite sunny! We hope they enjoyed the rest of their day and we wish them all the best for their future together as husband and wife.
