WEDDING MUSIC GUIDE · BEFORE THE CEREMONY
Do we need music while guests are being seated for our ceremony?
You do not have to, but it is one of the simplest ways to make the ceremony space feel ready before anything formal begins.
Guest-arrival music usually starts around 15–20 minutes before the ceremony and continues until the wedding party is ready to enter. We also have an additional package for music whilst guests gather before your ceremony which is for up an hour before the ceremony time.
WHEN
About 20–30 minutes before the ceremony.
MOOD
Warm, calm and welcoming rather than dramatic.
FINISH
Continue until the entrance is genuinely ready to begin.
Why it makes a difference
Before the ceremony, guests are finding seats, greeting relatives and waiting for the main moment. Without music, the room can feel slightly unfinished. With music, the atmosphere begins before the entrance itself.
The music does not need to contain your biggest or most emotional choices. Gentle classical pieces, film themes, modern love songs and elegant instrumental arrangements all work well.
FROM EXPERIENCE
If the ceremony is five or ten minutes late, nobody needs to notice. Live musicians simply keep playing until the entrance is ready.
Should it match the entrance music?
Not necessarily. It is often better for guest-arrival music to sit slightly below the emotional level of the entrance so that the main piece still feels special when it begins.
Think of it as opening the room
Guest-arrival music is not there to steal the moment. Its job is to make the ceremony space feel settled, welcoming and ready for what comes next.
