Here we try to answer the most common questions which we get asked. If your question isnt answered below, please do get in touch with us either through our contact form or WhatsApp / Telephone on 07855 275353.

What songs can we choose?

You can choose any song you like. We have a growing library of over 18,000 arrangements, and we’re always happy to add more.

For inspiration, explore our Listen Page, where you’ll find over 340 professionally recorded tracks — all arranged and recorded by us in our own studio.

About 6–8 weeks before your wedding, we’ll send you an online music form where you can list your choices. If there’s a song we don’t already know, we’ll create a custom arrangement for cello and piano at no extra cost.

Please note: in very rare cases, copyright restrictions may prevent a specific song from being performed publicly. If that happens, we’ll let you know and help you choose an alternative.

JAM Duo can play any song(s) of your choice – just let us know when you fill out our client information form (around 30 days before your wedding) and we will arrange your song choices for cello and piano and perform for you. There is no additional charge for this – we love finding new repertoire!

How long do you perform for?

We tailor our performance to match your day. As a general guide:

  • Ceremony: Approximately 30-45 minutes (please let us know your ceremony will be significantly longer than this)
  • Drinks reception: up to 90 minutes
  • Wedding breakfast: up to 90 minutes

Our packages are outlined in our wedding brochure, and we’ll agree everything with you in advance. Within reason we don’t clock-watch, but if your timings are expected to go significantly over the guide above, we may recommend adding extra time to your booking.

Will your music be loud enough?

Absolutely. Our preferred setup includes a Yamaha Electric CelloNord Stage Piano, and a Yamaha PA system, allowing us to adapt the volume to suit any setting — whether you’re having an intimate gathering or a large celebration with 1,000 guests.

Can you work with venue sound limiters?

Yes. Our electric setup offers excellent volume control — in fact, more flexibility than traditional acoustic instruments. We regularly perform at venues with sound limiters and can adapt easily to meet any restrictions.

What if our venue only allows acoustic instruments outside?

No problem. We have an acoustic (wooden) cello that’s suitable for outdoor use in such cases. While our stage piano requires light amplification, we’re often able to play quieter than acoustic musicians, so most venues are happy to accommodate us.

If in doubt, we’re happy to contact your venue directly to confirm what’s allowed. Just let us know who to contact or put them in touch with us.

Do you use venue pianos?

Where possible, we prefer not to use venue pianos. They are often untuned or poorly maintained, which affects sound quality. To ensure consistency and quality, we use our own carefully selected instruments, which are properly matched and maintained.

Do you take breaks during your performance?

We aim to keep our performance as continuous as possible.

For full-day bookings, we typically take short breaks only when moving between ceremony, drinks reception, or meal. We provide up to 90 minutes of uninterrupted music during drinks and again during the meal.

For longer events, a short break may be required. If so, we can keep music playing through our speaker system while we pause.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not charge for travel anywhere within mainland UK.

For weddings in Scotland, we have a minimum fee which may vary according to location as we will need to book accommodation and may need to allow a second day for travel. . For events outside mainland UK, our standard package rates apply, with travel and expenses charged at cost.

Can you perform outdoors?

Yes, weather permitting. We can play indoors or outdoors, and we can bring our own canopy for sun protection. If it’s raining or damp, we’ll need to be under cover, as our instruments cannot get wet.

As a general rule: if your guests are comfortable outside, so are we.

Do you need electricity?

No. We bring our own portable power supply, which allows us to set up anywhere — even in the middle of a field. We can play all day without needing mains electricity, though we’re happy to plug in if power is available.

Do you carry insurance?

Yes. JAM Duo is part of JAM Music Group Ltd, a UK Limited Company.

We carry up-to-date Public Liability Insurance (£2 million) and all our equipment is PAT tested. Certificates can be provided upon request. If your venue requires a higher value of insurance then we can arrange this for your day. Just let us know when you complete your client form – there is no additional charge for this amendment.

What happens if it snows?

We’ll stay in close contact if severe weather is forecast. If your event is confirmed to go ahead, we will make every reasonable effort to get there. We always travel in a Landrover which is less than 12 months old so gives us the best chance of getting anywhere.

In the highly unlikely event that we are unable to reach you due to weather — and your event still proceeds — we will issue a full refund.

How much space do you need?

We require a performance space of approximately 2m x 1m. If we’re bringing our piano shell, this increases to around 2m x 2m. Please let us know in advance, and we’ll work with your venue to ensure a smooth setup. We can however always be flexible and adapt to most spaces.

Can you play during our wedding rehearsal or welcome dinner?

Yes, we’re happy to provide music for wedding rehearsals, welcome drinks, or rehearsal dinners, either the day before or earlier on the day itself. Just let us know your plans, and we’ll tailor a quote accordingly.

Can we make last-minute music changes?

We’re very flexible. Minor changes can usually be accommodated up to 7 days before your wedding, especially if the song is already in our repertoire. For new arrangements, we ideally need at least 2–3 weeks’ notice to ensure the best quality.

Can you learn a surprise song for someone?

Absolutely. Whether it’s a surprise performance for your partner, a parent, or a special guest, we’re happy to help create a memorable moment. Just let us know in advance so we can plan it smoothly with you.

Can a guest or family member sing with you?

Yes! If someone close to you would like to sing during the ceremony or reception, we’re happy to accompany them. We just ask for the music and a quick run-through or sound check before the performance. We can provide a mic through our PA as well. However we do need at least 7 days notice to ensure we are prepared. Let us know when you complete your client form or talk to us in advance on WhatsApp.

What happens if one of you is unwell on the day?

In the rare event of a serious illness, we will do everything we can to still deliver your performance. Because JAM Duo is just the two of us, we don’t use deputies or replacements — but we are committed to giving you advance notice if something truly unavoidable arises and will offer a full refund if we cannot attend.

For your own peace of mind, it’s worth noting that Jules and Anne-Marie together, and separately, have worked as professional performing musicians for over 30 years each and never missed a single performance in this time.

Do you offer recorded music options as backup?

Yes, if you’d like us to play recorded music through our system during breaks, transitions, or in place of live music at certain points, we can arrange that. We’ll discuss these options with you during planning.
