Set in a private rural location, originally Dryhill formed part of a Roman ‘Villa Rustica’ dating back to around 76 AD and our vaulted cellar made with Roman bricks is evidence of this ancient occupation. The fields in front of Dryhill feature ancient agricultural terraces believed to be for vines and these have now been replanted with Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir vines to make elegant sparkling wine.

Approaching Dryhill down our scenic drive, you will follow in the footsteps of the celebrated Gloucestershire poet, Ivor Gurney, who once lived at Dryhill. In 1917, he describes his time here:

The loveliest place almost that ever was,
The widest sweep beauty before one”.

Feel free to browse his poetry, available from our library.
