A Beautiful French Château Wedding Venue in the Heart of the Loire Valley
For couples dreaming of a destination wedding in France, few settings capture the romance of the French countryside quite like Château de Chanzé.
Nestled amongst vineyards and rolling countryside in the beautiful Maine-et-Loire department of the Loire Valley, Château de Chanzé offers everything many couples imagine when they picture a French château wedding. Historic architecture, elegant gardens, peaceful courtyards and relaxed outdoor entertaining combine to create a venue that feels both luxurious and wonderfully welcoming.
JAM Duo had the pleasure of performing at Château de Chanzé for our very first destination wedding in France during the summer of 2026, and it immediately became one of our favourite wedding venues.
From the moment we arrived, we could understand why so many British couples choose this part of France for their wedding celebrations.
The Beauty of the Loire Valley
The Loire Valley has long been regarded as one of France’s most beautiful regions.
Often known as the Garden of France, it is famous for its vineyards, historic towns, magnificent châteaux and relaxed pace of life. Couples looking for a destination wedding often find themselves drawn here because it offers the perfect balance of elegance and informality.
Unlike many busier tourist destinations, the Loire Valley feels wonderfully authentic.
Quiet country roads weave between vineyards and sunflower fields.
Traditional stone villages appear around every corner.
Historic churches and magnificent country estates seem almost hidden amongst the landscape.
As musicians, we arrived the day before the wedding and stayed overnight in nearby Angers. On the morning of the wedding, Anne-Marie and I deliberately chose the scenic route through the countryside rather than the quickest drive to the venue. Butterfly watching has become a shared hobby whenever we travel, so taking our time through the vineyards before arriving at Château de Chanzé made the experience even more memorable.
It was a perfect introduction to one of France’s most beautiful wedding regions.
Discovering Château de Chanzé
There are some venues that immediately make you slow down.
Château de Chanzé is one of them.
Approaching along the tree-lined entrance, the château gradually reveals itself amongst mature gardens and open lawns, creating an immediate sense of occasion without ever feeling intimidating.
Unlike some grand estates that can appear formal or imposing, Château de Chanzé has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.
It feels like a family home that has been lovingly restored and opened to welcome guests rather than simply a wedding venue.
That warmth is one of its greatest strengths.
Guests are encouraged to settle in, enjoy the surroundings and make themselves completely at home throughout the wedding weekend.
For destination weddings, where family and friends often spend several days together, this creates exactly the sort of atmosphere couples hope for.
A Venue Designed for Entire Wedding Weekends
One of the things we particularly loved about Château de Chanzé is that weddings here are not simply one-day events.
Many couples and their guests stay at the château, transforming the celebration into a complete wedding weekend.
For Hattie and Chris, guests had already gathered the day before for afternoon tea and lawn games before the wedding itself, with a relaxed pool party and barbecue planned for the following day.
This is one of the greatest advantages of destination weddings.
Rather than rushing from ceremony to reception before everyone heads home, there is time to relax together.
Time to catch up with friends.
Time for families to enjoy being together.
Time for children to play safely within the grounds.
Time simply to enjoy the occasion.
It creates an atmosphere that feels very different from many traditional UK weddings.
Outdoor Ceremonies at Château de Chanzé
If you have always imagined exchanging your vows beneath blue skies surrounded by beautiful French countryside, Château de Chanzé offers a truly spectacular setting.
The outdoor ceremony area overlooks the château grounds and provides a wonderfully intimate space for celebrant-led ceremonies.
When we performed there, guests were seated beneath the warm June sunshine while live piano and cello music welcomed everyone before the ceremony.
The setting couldn’t have been more idyllic.
Mature trees framed the ceremony beautifully.
The château itself provided an elegant backdrop.
Beyond the gardens, the peaceful Loire countryside stretched into the distance.
It is easy to understand why so many destination wedding photographers love working here.
Every direction offers another beautiful photograph waiting to be captured.
Elegant Courtyards and Reception Spaces
One feature that makes Château de Chanzé particularly versatile is the variety of outdoor spaces available throughout the day.
Following the ceremony, guests gathered in the château courtyard for champagne, cocktails and canapés while family photographs took place around the grounds.
The courtyard provides a wonderfully sociable space.
Large enough for guests to mingle comfortably.
Small enough to retain an intimate atmosphere.
Beautiful stone buildings surround the area, creating a traditional French setting that feels timeless.
For musicians, it is also an excellent performance space.
During our visit we were able to provide live music continuously throughout the drinks reception without interrupting conversations, creating exactly the relaxed atmosphere Hattie and Chris had hoped for.
Dining Beneath the Trees
Perhaps our favourite part of Château de Chanzé was the outdoor wedding breakfast.
Rather than dining inside, guests were seated beneath mature trees with delicate fairy lights suspended overhead, creating one of the most picturesque reception settings we have experienced anywhere in Europe.
It perfectly captures what many couples dream about when they choose a destination wedding in France.
Long tables.
Wonderful food.
Excellent wine.
Beautiful scenery.
Family and friends gathered together beneath the evening sky.
It feels less like attending a formal wedding and more like sharing an unforgettable summer evening with the people who matter most.
As live musicians, it was a privilege to provide the soundtrack while guests enjoyed dinner beneath the trees.
Why Château Weddings Are So Popular
Over recent years, château weddings have become increasingly popular with British couples.
It’s not difficult to understand why.
A French château offers something that is difficult to recreate elsewhere.
History.
Character.
Space.
Privacy.
Beautiful accommodation.
Exceptional food and wine.
A complete wedding experience rather than simply a wedding venue.
Many châteaux, including Château de Chanzé, allow couples to enjoy exclusive use of the estate, creating an atmosphere where everyone feels completely relaxed.
Instead of sharing your wedding day with hotel guests or members of the public, the château becomes your home for the weekend.
That exclusivity transforms the entire experience.
By the end of our visit, Anne-Marie and I understood exactly why destination weddings in France continue to grow in popularity.
Château de Chanzé is far more than simply a beautiful building.
It is a place where unforgettable memories are created.
And for us, it marked the beginning of what we hope will be many more destination weddings throughout France and Europe.

Why Château de Chanzé Worked So Well for JAM Duo
Every venue has its own character, and as musicians we quickly learn what makes each one unique.
Some venues are known for spectacular architecture.
Others for their gardens.
Others simply for the way they make guests feel from the moment they arrive.
For us, Château de Chanzé manages to combine all three.
Our first destination wedding in France took place on a gloriously warm June afternoon, with every part of the celebrations taking place outdoors. From welcoming guests before the ceremony through to the first dance later that evening, the entire day flowed naturally through the château’s beautiful grounds.
One of the things that impressed us most was just how thoughtfully every part of the venue had been used.
Guests arrived in the courtyard before making their way to the ceremony lawn.
After the ceremony they naturally drifted back into the courtyard for champagne, cocktails and canapés.
Dinner was served beneath mature trees, with fairy lights suspended overhead ready for the evening ahead.
Finally, everyone gathered back in the courtyard for the couple’s first dance before celebrations continued inside the château.
There was never any sense of rushing from one location to another.
Everything felt relaxed, intuitive and wonderfully planned.
A Perfect Setting for Live Music
As professional musicians, we naturally notice the details that perhaps others don’t.
At Château de Chanzé, live music simply felt as though it belonged.
Because each part of the day flowed so naturally from one space to the next, our music became a continuous soundtrack to the celebrations rather than separate performances.
Guests heard live piano and cello as they arrived.
They continued hearing music throughout the ceremony.
The soundtrack carried seamlessly into the drinks reception.
It remained part of the atmosphere during the wedding breakfast.
Finally, we performed Hattie and Chris’s first dance beneath the evening sky before handing over to the evening DJ.
For couples considering live music throughout their wedding day, Château de Chanzé is exceptionally well suited.
Exceptional Planning by Sparkling Days
Every successful wedding is built around teamwork.
During our visit we had the pleasure of working alongside Hélène from Sparkling Days, and quite simply, she is one of the finest wedding planners we have worked with anywhere.
After performing at many hundreds of weddings throughout the UK, we don’t make comments like that lightly.
Her organisation was exceptional.
Every supplier knew exactly where they needed to be.
Every transition happened smoothly.
Every guest felt looked after.
Most importantly, everything appeared effortless.
That is often the sign of truly outstanding wedding planning.
There was one particular moment that demonstrated Hélène’s experience perfectly.
Knowing it was going to be a hot June afternoon, she had already planned for us to perform beneath the shade of a mature tree on the château terrace.
Not only did this protect our instruments from the sun, but it also meant we could remain in exactly the same location throughout the ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and first dance.
No moving equipment.
No interruptions.
No unnecessary delays.
It was one of the most thoughtful performance setups we’ve experienced and contributed enormously to the smooth flow of the day.

Bringing the Full JAM Duo Experience to France
One question we’re often asked is whether travelling overseas means compromising on equipment.
The answer is no.
For weddings in northern France and much of mainland Europe, we normally travel by road via the Channel Tunnel.
That means we can bring everything.
Our Nord Stage piano.
Anne-Marie’s Yamaha electric cello.
Our Yamaha sound system.
Our gloss black grand piano shell.
All of our stands, equipment and accessories.
Nothing needs to be hired locally and nothing is left behind.
Couples receive exactly the same professional presentation and performance that has become synonymous with JAM Duo throughout the United Kingdom.
For destination weddings, we think that’s incredibly important.
A Wonderful Wedding Atmosphere
One of the lasting memories we took away from Château de Chanzé wasn’t simply the venue itself.
It was the atmosphere.
Destination weddings always seem to create a slightly different feeling.
Because guests have travelled together and are often staying for several days, there is no rush.
People relax.
Families spend more time together.
Friendships are strengthened.
Children explore the grounds while adults enjoy long conversations over excellent food and wine.
It feels more like a wonderful holiday centred around a wedding than a traditional one-day celebration.
That relaxed atmosphere suits live music perfectly.
Rather than demanding attention, our role is to complement the occasion, gently enhancing each moment while allowing conversations and celebrations to unfold naturally.
Why We Would Love to Return
Although our visit to Château de Chanzé marked our first destination wedding in France, we sincerely hope it won’t be our last.
Everything about the venue impressed us.
Its beautiful setting.
Its relaxed atmosphere.
Its flexibility.
Its wonderful outdoor spaces.
Its welcoming team.
Combined with outstanding planning from Sparkling Days and a fantastic group of suppliers, it created one of the most enjoyable weddings we’ve ever been fortunate enough to perform at.
It is certainly a venue we would return to without hesitation.
