Feel beautifully at home

Homme House is our Grade II* listed country home nestled in 200 acres of rural Herefordshire countryside close to the Gloucestershire border, with beautiful views of the Malvern Hills and Cotswolds beyond.

Family owned and family run, we offer Homme on an exclusive use basis with an approach not like commercial venues, but as a warm and welcoming family home that’s relaxed and as flexible as possible.

Homme is not a high volume, commercial, cookie cutter wedding venue. We open and share our beautiful home for a limited number of very special occasions, all on an exclusive use basis, for everything from a simple and intimate wedding ceremony and canapé reception, to a full weekend gathering, giving you the flexibility to have the day you desire. In doing so we enjoy providing as much support as you want through the process of planning your wedding, as well as helping to ensure that the wedding day itself runs as smoothly as possible.

For a weekend wedding, exclusive use of all our reception rooms, accommodation and grounds is from 09:30am on Friday to 12:30pm on Sunday. This gives you the freedom to settle in, set up and relax knowing everything is just as you want it for your wedding day, and ensures a relaxed start to married life once the celebrations are over.

As an alternative, weekday weddings at Homme offer the flexibility to enjoy the house and its surroundings for shorter hire periods, from 4 hours on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

For either, the reception rooms and grounds can be used in many different ways; we will do our best to accommodate even the most unusual ideas.

Indoor Ceremony

Homme House is licensed for civil ceremonies in a choice of 3 spaces within the main house:

THE DINING ROOM 110

A beautiful room decorated with chinese antique furniture, antique gilt mirror and chandelier, with a full length sash bay window overlooking the gardens.

THE HALL 25 An intimate space ideal for smaller ceremonies with the backdrop of the

impressive flying staircase.

Civil ceremonies should be booked through the Herefordshire County Council Register Office. The team will be happy to assist with any enquiries:

Garden Ceremony

Set in the beautiful surroundings of our Walled Garden, Homme offers the romantic backdrop of our 17th century Grade I listed Summerhouse for a garden ceremony in warmer months. The two options are as follows:

THE SUMMERHOUSE – OUTSIDE

The ceremony entrance is through a wisteria covered pergola, and the ceremony seating nestles between flower beds and wild flower meadow. The Upper Chamber of the Summerhouse, with its vaulted ceiling and views over the Malvern Hills, is a beautiful and intimate option for the signing of the marriage schedule.

THE SUMMERHOUSE – INSIDE

Ceremonies of up to 12 guests can take place in the intimate space of the Upper Chamber of the Summerhouse itself, with the wood burning stove adding a cosy and romantic warmth to the room in colder months.

The long borders, cherry walkway or espaliered apples provide lovely settings for confetti after the ceremony. The ceremony can be moved to take place inside in poor weather, with you only needing to make the decision on the morning of your wedding.

The Reception

Homme House is surrounded by 5 acres of beautiful gardens, full of interest throughout the seasons, whether it be banks of snowdrops and daffodils early in the year, the wildflower meadows, wisteria & lavender of midsummer or the autumn colours of the acer glade and parkland trees.

With a woodland backdrop and unspoilt rural views, the main lawn is an ideal area for reception drinks, croquet and other garden games, as well as a marquee for a larger wedding.

Below the lawn, guests can wander Cherry Walk to discover the secluded water feature and bog garden. The upper lawn leads up to the traditional Rose Garden, a quiet and intimate space, with a beech arch leading through to the 2 acre walled garden.

Benches are provided throughout the gardens for guests to relax and enjoy the surroundings, with three patio areas for larger groups.

In poor weather, guests can mingle inside the main house reception rooms. The Panelled Room and Library both have open fires and are connected by the spacious Hall.

Food & Drink

FOOD

At Homme we give you complete freedom to choose the perfect caterer for your day. We will provide you with any recommendations and support you might need based on our years of experience working with a range of excellent catering partners, though you are very welcome to choose your own caterer should you wish.

We also allow complete freedom and flexibility when it comes to the evening catering, allowing you to choose anything from a mobile pizza oven to arranging your own evening nibbles.

DRINK

At Homme we do not impose an in house drinks list or charge a corkage fee, giving you the freedom to select exactly the drinks you would like on your wedding day without any costly surcharge. We will take delivery of the drinks you have chosen and chill them for enjoyment on the day at no extra cost.

We also offer the option of a pay bar through a designated supplier, for which Herefordshire pub prices are charged.

The Evening

Homme House can host up to 120 guests for evening celebrations. Dancing takes place inside the house, with the Library offering a quiet, cosy space in which to relax by the fire in colder months. Situated in the Hall, the bar area neatly links all the reception rooms, with the Dining Room available for evening food.

There are endless options for evening entertainment, from a casino in the Library to fire bowls and sparklers outside the house.

Our premises licence allows for bar service until 23.30, evening music until 23.45 and for all non-resident guests to be with us until no later than 00.15. A list of local taxi companies is provided, and non-resident guests are welcome to leave their cars in our car park for collection the following day.

Staying at Homme

We offer guest rooms in 3 spaces at Homme, allowing you to accommodate up to 32 in 14 bedrooms for your wedding.

All of the available accommodation is reserved for you and is in your gift, with no obligation to use any or all of the guest rooms, so you can decide exactly who you would like to have staying with you for your wedding.

Guests staying only on the wedding night are encouraged to check in as early as they would like to on the day, to settle in with plenty of time to prepare for the proceedings.

A continental breakfast is served in the guest kitchens on the morning of the wedding. On the morning following the wedding, either a continental or a hearty Herefordshire cooked breakfast is served in the main Dining Room so that you can have everyone together for breakfast.

We encourage our overnight guests to make themselves at home in the house and to explore the surrounding gardens during their stay.

HOMME HOUSE Much Marcle Ledbury Herefordshire

Google Maps: use ‘Homme House’
Other mapping/satnav: use ‘St. Bartholomew’s Church, Much Marcle’ What3Words: use ‘candle.precluded.unravel’

On entering the Estate beside the church follow the parkland drive for 1000m before a left turn up to the car park and house.

As weddings go this was another fabulous one and was also our first visit to the delightful Homme House in Herefordshire. Today we were booked to provide music just for the drinks reception which followed a service in the nearby church.

The Wedding

Emily and James
Homme House, Much Marcle, Herefordshire
Saturday 15 October 2022

As we arrived, Emily was just getting ready to leave for the church. This is not a view we see very often as we are usually playing for the ceremony or not in a position to see the bride before she sets off!

Once the bride and her bridesmaids had all departed for the church we had around an hour in order to get our instruments into the venue and be ready to set up for the start of the drinks reception. With parking no further away than the point the above photographs were taken this was no problem at all and in fact left us with plenty of time to relax and have a look around the venue.

There were some lovely touches at Emily and James’ wedding and we particularly liked the clocks hanging by each section of the day.

Music for the Wedding Drinks Reception

We were directed to set up at the back of the main entrance hall and found ourselves by the wedding cake and beautifully framed by the archway.

Music Choices

Emily and James had been very specific about the music they wanted for their drinks reception and provided us with a list of some lovely choices.

  1. Shallow (A star is born)
  2. A Thousand Years (Piano Guys)
  3. Always remember us (Lady Gaga)
  4. Beautiful Girl – Sean Kingston
  5. Brown eyed girl – Van Morrison
  6. Can’t take my eyes off of you – Frankie Valley
  7. Everglow – Coldplay
  8. Girls like you – Marron 5
  9. Bridgeton Theme
  10. Can you feel the love tonight – The Lion King
  11. Come what may – Moulin Rouge
  12. Game of thrones theme
  13. My heart will go on – titanic theme
  14. Now we are free – Hans Zimmer (Gladiator)
  15. Just the way you are – Bruno Mars
  16. Let it be – The Beatles
  17. Love me like you do – Ellie Goulding
  18. Make you feel my love – Adele
  19. Paradise – Coldplay
  20. River flows in you – The Piano Guys
  21. Yellow – Coldplay
  22. Dance Monkey – Tones and I
  23. I’m going to be (500 miles) – The Proclaimers

We were scheduled to play for around 2 hours and we did get through all their song choices, plus one or two extras thrown in at the request of their guests!
