The Castle Westenhanger in Kent is a castle wedding venue nestled in 14 acres of magnificent countryside. Romantic and regal with breathtaking ruins to be found at every turn, The Castle Westenhanger is your medieval fairytale dream. Located near the historic market town of Hythe, the castle is a scheduled ancient monument with a Grade 1 listed manor house. It enjoys a rich history and has been connected to many notable figures throughout history, including Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I.
Today it was the venue for Emma and Williams marriage which featured JAM Duo providing music for the outdoor ceremony and drinks reception.
When we arrived at the venue the weather was somewhat overcast and the rain was still pouring down. Indeed en route to Kent from our home in the Cotswolds we had experienced torrential rain for most of the journey.
However as we neared the ceremony start time, the clouds lifted and in fact the sun shone down on the wedding day, so much so that only an hour or so later we were seeking shelter and sun cream!

Emma looked amazing in her beautiful wedding dress and it was a delight to provide music for this very beautiful outdoor ceremony.
The Drinks Reception
On this occasion our placement under a tree near the ceremony area was also suitable for providing music during the drinks reception which followed. This meant we didn’t have to move our instruments and could provide even more music for Emma and William.
Songs we were asked to include were:
Million Dreams – Greatest showman

Where are you Christmas ( Running joke between Bride and Groom)

Africa TOTO

We never did find out what the running joke was between the Bride and Groom, but we enjoyed playing a Christmas song in August!
