Despite feeling delightfully secluded, Dunglass is within easy reach of Edinburgh and several main road and rail links including Berwick-upon-Tweed just over the English border. Plus, if required, there is plenty of space within the grounds to land a helicopter.
On the day we visited for Nicole and Jay’s wedding the weather was not the best it could have been for the occasion but nevertheless you could still appreciate just how beautiful the Dunglass Estate is with its on site Collegiate church. The ceremony space proved a little challenging as access was across wet grass with our kit and certain parts of the roof were better than others at keeping the rain out. But nevertheless, it had been beautifully decorated for the occasion and it was our privilege to be part of this special day.

Ceremony and Drinks
Following Kim and Des’ wedding at Nunsmere Hall a couple of days earlier, we had made our way up to Scotland via a day off in Northumberland. Here we visited Bamburgh Castle and Alnwick Castle, taking in the beautiful scenery of the North East. One of the great joys of our job is being able to travel around to different places, especially when we get a little time off or even a couple of hours to explore somewhere before a wedding.
And so, having stayed in Alnwick the night before, it was just a short drive to the beautiful setting of Dunglass Estate for today’s wedding.
The Wedding Spaces

Dunglass has some beautiful spaces for your wedding. Set in the heart of the estate lies the 15th Century Gothic church, beautiful, warm grey stone resonates with the tales of times gone by and the half-ruined nature of this utterly unique church makes it all the more atmospheric – perfect for the most romantic of ceremonies.
‘The most romantic sweet place I ever saw’ Robert Burns, 1787.
As you drive through the stone gates, up the winding driveway lined with ancient trees, you are greeted by one of the most stunning views in all of East Lothian.
The Wedding
Starting in the church we provided music for Nicole and Jay’s church ceremony.

Setting up as directed in one of the arms of the church we found a space which was suitable for our instruments and ensured the sound was being projected throughout the church.

The Drinks Reception
After the church ceremony we relocated with our instruments back to the main venue where the drinks reception was being held.

For the drinks reception the music request was anything more upbeat. Setting up by the drinks table we curated a set of suitable music for Nicole and Jay’s guests including a range of contemporary songs and upbeat classics.
We always love taking on weddings in Scotland and despite the rain we had a lovely time at Dunglass playing for Nicole and Jay. They are a really lovely couple and we wish them all the best for their future together.
