Our travels often take us the length and breadth of the UK, and it’s always a joy when those journeys lead us back to Scotland. We were delighted to perform for Lauren and Aiden’s wedding at Boclair House in Glasgow – an elegant and atmospheric venue that proved the perfect setting for a day of music, laughter, and love.

From start to finish, this was a celebration filled with style and emotion. JAM Duo provided live music for the ceremony, drinks reception, and wedding breakfast, all of which were held indoors – ideal for a Scottish day that was cool but cosy inside Boclair’s stunning interiors.

The Setting – Boclair House, Glasgow

Boclair House is one of Glasgow’s most striking wedding venues, known for its red sandstone exterior, sweeping staircase, and Art Deco-inspired interiors. The ceremony space glows with soft light and rich detail, creating a beautifully intimate atmosphere for live cello and piano music. It’s a venue that suits our sound perfectly – elegant, romantic, and timeless.

We set up our Nord Stage piano and electric cello, using our Yamaha sound system to create a clear, warm tone that filled the room without overpowering the intimacy of the moment. As always, our performances were entirely live – no backing tracks, allowing us to adjust the dynamics of each piece to the flow of the ceremony.

The Wedding Ceremony

Lauren and Aiden had chosen a sophisticated and moving selection of pieces for their ceremony – a combination of contemporary cinematic scores and emotive piano works that gave the whole occasion a refined, modern feel.

As guests arrived and took their seats, we played a series of pre-ceremony pieces that gently set the mood:

  • Cornfield Chase – Hans Zimmer
  • Golden Hour – JVKE
  • I Giorni – Ludovico Einaudi
  • Nuvole Bianche – Ludovico Einaudi
  • Time – Hans Zimmer

Each of these works has a distinctive cinematic quality – rich harmonies, gradual builds, and beautiful piano writing that translates wonderfully for cello and piano.

The bridal procession was a grand affair, featuring five bridesmaids accompanied by groomsmen, followed by a flower girl and two page boys, and finally the bride herself.

To accommodate this, we created six distinct musical entrances – each flowing seamlessly into the next, perfectly timed to the pace of the procession. Timing is something we take great care with, and there’s a lovely art in shaping the phrasing so that the bride walks at just the right moment in the music.

Lauren made her entrance to Oceans (Spirit Lead Me) – specifically the dramatic, emotional climax towards the end of the song. The combination of piano arpeggios and soaring cello melody gave the moment real depth and grandeur, filling the room with anticipation and feeling.

During the signing of the register, we changed the tone to something gentle and heartfelt with:

  • Due Tramonti – Ludovico Einaudi
  • Glasgow Theme – Love Actually Soundtrack

The latter felt especially appropriate given the city setting – a tender, recognisable melody that brought smiles all around.

For the couple’s exit, we played Kiss Me – a joyful, romantic choice that lifted the energy as Lauren and Aiden walked back down the aisle to cheers and applause.

The Drinks Reception

With the ceremony complete, guests moved to the reception area for drinks and canapés, where we continued the live music in a more upbeat style. The atmosphere was lively and cheerful, and we drew from our wide repertoire of pop, film and contemporary favourites to match the mood.

From Fleetwood Mac to ColdplayTaylor SwiftThe Beatles and Ed Sheeran, we selected pieces that created an easy, joyful backdrop to conversation and celebration. It’s always lovely to see guests recognising familiar melodies in our instrumental versions – tapping along, smiling, or sometimes quietly singing a line to themselves.

The acoustics of Boclair House made everything sound rich and full – one of those spaces where the cello can really sing, and the piano tone sits beautifully in the room.

The Wedding Meal

As guests were seated for the wedding breakfast, we once again provided live music – this time blending jazzy piano favourites with classical and film-inspired pieces to give the meal a sophisticated and relaxed atmosphere.

The piano’s warmth paired with the smooth tone of the electric cello created an elegant soundscape that complemented the laughter and conversation around the tables. We love this part of the day – it’s where our music quietly enhances the atmosphere without intruding, keeping the energy flowing as the meal progresses.

A Beautiful Scottish Celebration

There’s something about weddings in Scotland that always feels special – perhaps it’s the warmth of the people or the grandeur of the venues, but every time we return north of the border, it feels like a privilege.

Boclair House in particular has a sense of timeless charm – modern yet classic, welcoming yet luxurious. The staff were wonderfully accommodating, and the whole day flowed seamlessly from start to finish.

For us, it was a joy to perform throughout the entire daytime celebration, from the quietest pre-ceremony moments through to the laughter of the wedding meal. Each performance was live, perfectly timed, and shaped by the emotions in the room – something that simply can’t be replicated by recorded music.

Thank You

Our sincere thanks to Lauren and Aiden for inviting JAM Duo to be part of their beautiful wedding at Boclair House. It was a day filled with elegance, emotion, and music that perfectly reflected their personalities. We wish them every happiness for the future and are so grateful to have been part of such a memorable celebration in Glasgow.
