In February 2026 we returned to the beautiful Elmore Court to provide live music for Lydia and Shahil’s wedding – a celebration that blended elegance, personality and cultural richness in the most natural way. From the moment we arrived, there was a quiet sense of anticipation in the air. Winter weddings at Elmore Court have a particular atmosphere: intimate, warm and full of character, and Lydia and Shahil’s day captured all of that perfectly.
We were honoured to be chosen to provide music for both the ceremony and drinks reception, performing as guests arrived and continuing through the early part of the celebrations. With 115 guests dressed in black tie and formal Indian attire (with a playful twist), the visual impact alone was striking. The colour palette of blush, deeper pink and orange flowed beautifully through the flowers and décor, creating a cohesive look that felt both refined and joyful.
A winter wedding at Elmore Court
Elmore Court is one of those venues that always feels special to return to. Set in the Gloucestershire countryside, it combines historic architecture with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that suits weddings of every style. In winter, the house feels especially inviting. Soft light filters through the stained glass windows, and the historic interiors provide a warm backdrop that enhances live acoustic music.
Lydia and Shahil had asked for us to set up by the stained glass windows in the main hall, a position that worked beautifully both acoustically and visually. From there we could greet guests with music as they arrived from 1pm, creating a gentle, elegant atmosphere as everyone took their seats. Elmore Court’s layout allows music to carry naturally without overwhelming conversation, and the absence of sound restrictions meant we could shape the dynamics of our performance to suit each moment of the day.
Access and logistics at Elmore Court are always smooth, and the on-site parking and helpful venue team made setup straightforward. A special thank you goes to Esther and the Elmore Court staff, who ensured everything ran seamlessly behind the scenes.
Ceremony music: personal, timeless and expressive
Lydia and Shahil chose a ceremony programme filled with songs that were deeply personal yet universally loved. As guests gathered, we performed a selection of pre-ceremony pieces including The Ordinary, A Thousand Years, Kiss From a Rose, She’s Always a Woman and Your Song. Arranged for cello and piano, these songs took on a softer, more intimate character, setting a calm and emotional tone.
The bridal entrance was to The Luckiest by Ben Folds. Timing a live performance to match the pace of a bridal entrance is something we always approach with care. Lydia planned to enter around the chorus, and we shaped the introduction to allow for a natural build, ensuring the music and moment aligned perfectly. Watching the room focus as Lydia walked in with her father was one of those quiet highlights that reminds us why live music matters so much at weddings.
During the signing of the register we performed Gold in Them Hills, This Year’s Love and The One. These reflective pieces created space for guests to absorb the significance of the ceremony while maintaining a sense of warmth and continuity. The couple exited to Grow Old With Me, an uplifting choice that carried everyone from the ceremony into the celebrations that followed.

A celebration of cultures and details
One of the most memorable visual features of the day was the wedding cake. Alongside a beautifully decorated traditional tiered cake stood an extraordinary elephant-shaped creation, richly detailed and adorned with flowers that echoed the wedding colours. It was a striking nod to Shahil’s Indian heritage and a wonderful example of how Lydia and Shahil wove cultural elements into their celebration in a way that felt natural and joyful. Guests were drawn to it throughout the drinks reception, and it quickly became a talking point and a focal feature of the room.
The black-tie dress code combined with formal Indian attire created a vibrant and elegant scene. Silks, embroidery and tailored evening wear sat comfortably together, reflecting the couple’s story and the blending of families and traditions. As musicians, we are always aware of how music interacts with these visual elements. The warmth of live cello and piano complemented the richness of the setting, adding another layer to the atmosphere.
Drinks reception: timeless classics and relaxed elegance
After the confetti throw, guests moved into the drinks reception, and we continued playing from the same position. Lydia and Shahil asked for a selection inspired by artists such as John Mayer, Elton John, The Cranberries and Fleetwood Mac, alongside some of our own favourite timeless classics. This gave us the freedom to shape a set that felt familiar yet fresh, moving easily between generations and styles.
During drinks receptions our aim is to create an environment where conversation flows naturally while the music provides a continuous thread of elegance. At Elmore Court the acoustics supported this perfectly. Guests could enjoy the detail of the arrangements without ever feeling that the music dominated the space. We noticed groups pausing occasionally to listen more closely to recognisable melodies, a small but meaningful sign of engagement.
The winter light outside contrasted beautifully with the warm interior, and as the afternoon progressed the atmosphere softened into something relaxed and celebratory. Moments like these are where live music quietly does its best work: supporting conversations, marking transitions and giving the day a sense of cohesion.
Working with Lydia and Shahil
From our first conversations with Lydia and Shahil it was clear how thoughtfully they were planning their wedding. Their music choices reflected a shared taste for songs that are both expressive and enduring, and they trusted us to interpret those choices in a way that suited the space and the moment.
We are always grateful when couples give us insight into the feel they want to create. In this case, their brief of “timeless generational classics” for the drinks reception captured the spirit of the day perfectly. It allowed us to tailor our performance to their guests while remaining true to our acoustic style.
Thank you, Lydia and Shahil, for inviting JAM Duo to be part of such an important day. It was a privilege to provide the soundtrack to your ceremony and early celebrations, and we wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.
Why Elmore Court suits live cello and piano
Having performed at Elmore Court on multiple occasions, we have come to appreciate how well the venue supports live acoustic music. The combination of historic architecture and carefully considered modern facilities creates an environment where sound carries naturally. The stained glass area chosen by Lydia and Shahil offered both visual drama and acoustic clarity, allowing the cello and piano to blend seamlessly with the room.
For couples considering Elmore Court, the flexibility of the space is a significant advantage. Musicians can remain in position from ceremony through drinks reception, maintaining continuity and avoiding unnecessary disruption. The venue team’s experience with live performers ensures that practical details – from access to timing – are handled smoothly.
A February wedding to remember
Winter weddings often have a distinctive intimacy, and Lydia and Shahil’s celebration was a beautiful example of how February can offer its own kind of magic. The combination of elegant styling, cultural influences and carefully chosen music created a day that felt both personal and inclusive.
For us, the image that lingers is the pairing of the two cakes: the traditional tiered centrepiece and the exquisitely crafted elephant, surrounded by guests in vibrant attire and softened by the sound of live cello and piano. It was a scene that captured the essence of the day – a meeting of traditions, families and stories, brought together in celebration.

We are always delighted to return to Elmore Court and to work with couples who value the role of music in shaping their wedding atmosphere. Lydia and Shahil’s wedding reminded us once again how powerful live music can be in marking life’s most important moments.
If you are planning a wedding at Elmore Court or elsewhere and are considering live music for your ceremony or drinks reception, we would love to hear from you. Every wedding is unique, and it is a pleasure to help couples design a soundtrack that reflects their personalities and their story.
