JAM Duo travel all over the UK for weddings. From Scotland to the South Coast, from country houses to city venues, we spend much of the year on the road providing live cello and piano music for ceremonies, drinks receptions and wedding breakfasts.
But there is always something particularly special about being part of a wedding in the Cotswolds.
This is the part of the country where we live, and it is an area we know extremely well. The villages, the landscapes, the barns, the manor houses and the gardens all have a distinctive charm which makes the Cotswolds one of the most desirable wedding destinations in the UK. For us, performing at Cotswold weddings feels both familiar and special: familiar because it is close to home, and special because the venues here are some of the finest in the country.
Local Wedding Musicians with UK-Wide Experience
Although JAM Duo are based in the Cotswolds, we are very much a UK-wide wedding duo. We regularly travel hundreds of miles for weddings, often performing at venues many hours from home. That national experience is a big part of what we do. It means we are used to different venue layouts, changing schedules, long travel days, outdoor ceremonies, quick turnarounds and the many practical details which come with live wedding music.
At the same time, there is a real pleasure in playing locally. A Cotswold wedding often feels beautifully connected to the landscape around it. The stone buildings, rolling countryside and quiet elegance of the area give wedding days a certain atmosphere before the music has even begun.
For live cello and piano, that setting works particularly well. Our music is elegant, personal and completely live, which suits the tone of many Cotswold weddings: stylish without being showy, relaxed without feeling casual, and always focused on creating the right atmosphere for the couple and their guests.
The Cotswolds: A Perfect Setting for Weddings
The Cotswolds has become one of the most sought-after wedding areas in the UK, and it is easy to see why. Couples can choose from luxury manor houses, beautifully restored barns, country estates, intimate gardens and exclusive-use venues. Many Cotswold wedding venues are designed so that the whole day can unfold in one place, from the ceremony through to the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening celebration.
That flow is especially important when live music is part of the day. When the ceremony, drinks and meal spaces connect well, the music can move with the celebration rather than feeling separate from it. We can begin with carefully timed ceremony music, continue into a relaxed drinks reception and then provide elegant background music for the wedding breakfast.
This is where many Cotswold venues work so well. They often have a natural rhythm to the day, which allows couples and guests to enjoy each stage without feeling rushed or disjointed.
Venues We Love in the Cotswolds
We are fortunate to play at many beautiful venues across the Cotswolds and the surrounding area. Each has its own character, but they all share that sense of quality and atmosphere which makes this part of the country so popular for weddings.
Hyde House is a stylish Cotswold wedding venue near Stow-on-the-Wold, with a Victorian house and barns set in the Gloucestershire countryside. It is an exclusive-use venue with accommodation, and it has a lovely balance of elegance and relaxed barn charm.
Elmore Court, near Gloucester, is another wonderful venue with a strong sense of personality. It combines a historic house and gardens with The Gillyflower, its distinctive future-rustic reception space. The venue describes itself as sustainable and set in rural Gloucestershire with views towards the Cotswold hills, which gives it a very individual feel.
Tortworth Court is a grander country house setting, ideal for couples who want the scale and presence of a historic hotel venue. We have enjoyed performing there for weddings where the architecture and setting bring a real sense of occasion to the day.

Kingscote Barn is another venue we always enjoy returning to. It has a beautiful rural setting and an excellent flow between the different parts of the wedding day, which makes it particularly good for ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast music.
Upcote Barn is a lovely Cotswold barn venue and one that works very well for relaxed but elegant weddings. Barn venues like this are particularly suited to live cello and piano because the music adds warmth without overpowering the space.

The Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury is a long-established Cotswold wedding venue centred around a 17th-century Grade II listed barn, with indoor and outdoor ceremony options. It offers that classic combination of historic character, gardens and flexible wedding spaces which couples often look for in the Cotswolds.
Cornwell Manor is very much at the luxury end of Cotswold weddings. It has the feel of a private country estate and is particularly suited to destination weddings, elegant marquee receptions and multi-day celebrations. For couples coming from overseas or from further afield in the UK, Cornwell Manor offers exactly the kind of Cotswold atmosphere people imagine: refined, rural and quietly spectacular.

Why Live Cello and Piano Work So Well Here
Cotswold weddings often have a very particular tone. They are elegant, but not always formal. Beautifully styled, but rarely overbearing. Personal, thoughtful and often set against wonderful countryside or historic architecture.
That is why live cello and piano work so naturally in these venues.
For the ceremony, we can perform music for guest arrival, the entrance of the bridal party, the signing of the register and the couple’s exit. Because everything is played live, we can follow the timing of the ceremony properly. If the entrance takes longer than expected, the music continues. If the exit happens quickly, we shape the ending to fit. There are no backing tracks and no fixed recordings.
For the drinks reception, cello and piano create atmosphere without taking over. Guests can talk, enjoy the setting and still feel that the music is part of the occasion. This is often one of the loveliest parts of a Cotswold wedding, especially when drinks are outside in gardens, courtyards or on terraces.
For the wedding breakfast, live music brings warmth to the room. It gives the meal a sense of occasion while still allowing conversation to flow naturally. In barns, manor houses and marquees, the sound of cello and piano feels elegant, intimate and well suited to the setting.

Close to Home, But Still a Destination
One of the interesting things about Cotswold weddings is that, although they may be local for us, they are often destination weddings for many couples and guests. Some travel from London, some from elsewhere in the UK, and some from overseas. For them, the Cotswolds is a destination in its own right.
That means a local wedding can still feel like a major event. Venues such as Cornwell Manor, Kingscote Barn, Hyde House, Elmore Court and The Great Tythe Barn all offer something that feels special and memorable. They are not simply places to host a wedding; they are part of the experience.
As local musicians, we enjoy being part of that. We understand the area, we know many of the venues, and we appreciate the particular style of wedding the Cotswolds does so well.
JAM Duo for Cotswold Weddings
JAM Duo provide live cello and piano music for weddings throughout the Cotswolds, as well as across the UK. We are often booked for the full daytime part of a wedding, including the ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast.
Our music is always performed live by the same two professional musicians: Anne-Marie on cello and Jules on piano. We do not use backing tracks, and we bring our own professional equipment, including electric cello, Nord piano, amplification and our gloss black piano shell where appropriate.
For Cotswold weddings, this gives couples a polished and elegant musical option which fits beautifully into barns, manor houses, gardens, terraces and marquees. Whether the day is relaxed and rustic, luxurious and formal, or somewhere in between, live cello and piano can be shaped around the atmosphere of the venue and the personality of the couple.
Why We Enjoy Cotswold Weddings So Much
We love travelling for weddings, and it is a real privilege to perform at venues all over the UK. But there is something especially satisfying about playing for weddings in the Cotswolds, close to where we live.
The area has so many wonderful venues, each with its own character. Hyde House, Elmore Court, Tortworth Court, Kingscote Barn, Upcote Barn, The Great Tythe Barn and Cornwell Manor are all excellent examples of what makes Cotswold weddings so appealing.
For us, these weddings combine the best of both worlds: the professionalism and experience that comes from travelling nationwide, and the connection that comes from performing in the area we call home.
When everything comes together — the venue, the setting, the couple, the guests and the music — a Cotswold wedding really does have a magic of its own.
