A Prestigious Setting: St Omer Barracks
St Omer Barracks is a well-established part of Aldershot Garrison, a location steeped in British military history. Named after the French town of Saint-Omer, the barracks house the 27 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) – a key unit responsible for vital support services including transport, supply, and logistics.
The Officers’ Mess at St Omer Barracks provides a refined and formal setting for regimental occasions. From regimental dinners to ceremonial toasts, it’s a place where tradition meets hospitality, and where events are conducted with the utmost precision and pride.
Live Music for a Formal Military Dinner
For this special Guest Dinner Night, JAM Duo were invited to perform throughout the three-course meal in the elegant dining room of the Officers’ Mess. We provided a carefully selected programme of live contemporary covers – instrumental arrangements of popular and recognisable songs, chosen to enhance the ambience without disrupting the formality of the occasion.
Our music flowed seamlessly through the evening, complementing each course with polished and sophisticated live cello and piano. The playlist was designed to be elegant, engaging, and appropriate to the setting – respecting the formal traditions of the night while adding a personal musical touch.
The Loyal Toast: A Moment of National Pride
One of the most significant moments in a military dinner is the Loyal Toast, when guests rise to honour the King. For this, we were proud to perform a live rendition of the National Anthem – a moment of dignity and unity, underscoring the regimental pride and ceremony of the evening.
