WEDDING MUSIC GUIDE · NEW ARRANGEMENTS
Can JAM Duo arrange a song they do not already play?
Often, yes. If a song matters to you, ask us about it — even if it is not an obvious cello-and-piano choice.
What makes a song suitable?
Strong melodies tend to translate particularly well because the cello can take the vocal line while the piano carries harmony and rhythm. Some songs need more adaptation than others, but genre alone is not a reason to rule something out.
CEREMONY
A personal song can make the entrance or signing feel completely your own.
FIRST DANCE
A new arrangement can turn your original song into a more intimate live version.
UNUSUAL REQUEST
Film, game, indie, rock and less conventional songs can all be worth exploring.
ASK EARLY
If a new arrangement is important to you, mention it well before the wedding. That gives us time to assess the song properly and prepare it rather than trying to improvise a bespoke arrangement at the last moment.
Will it sound exactly like the recording?
No — and that is usually the point. Cello and piano create their own version of the song. The melody and character remain recognisable, but the arrangement is shaped for two live instruments rather than attempting to imitate a full studio production.
The arrangement should serve the moment
A great request is not necessarily the song that sounds most impressive on paper. It is the one that becomes meaningful when you hear it at the exact point in the wedding where it belongs.
