Elegant live wedding music at one of our favourite Cotswold wedding venues

Set within a secluded valley in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, Kingscote Barn is one of the Cotswolds wedding venues we particularly enjoy performing at. Situated near Tetbury, this beautifully restored collection of traditional Cotswold stone buildings offers a wonderful combination of rural charm, elegant surroundings and thoughtfully designed spaces for wedding celebrations.

At JAM Duo, we provide professional live cello and piano music for weddings at Kingscote Barn, accompanying everything from romantic wedding ceremonies and relaxed drinks receptions to wedding breakfasts and cocktail hours. As local Cotswold wedding musicians, we particularly appreciate venues where the atmosphere, surroundings and practical arrangements work together to create a memorable occasion.

Having performed at Kingscote Barn on several occasions, we have developed a genuine affection for the venue. It is somewhere we are always delighted to return to, not simply because of its beautiful setting, but because the wedding team are consistently friendly, welcoming and helpful. We also know from experience how well the different areas of the venue accommodate live music, making it possible to create a continuous musical atmosphere throughout the daytime celebrations.

Whether you are planning an intimate wedding ceremony, a larger celebration or a church wedding followed by a reception at Kingscote Barn, JAM Duo can provide live music tailored to the different moments of your day.

Discover Kingscote Barn – A Beautiful Cotswolds Wedding Venue

Kingscote Barn is situated at Binley Farm, near Tetbury in Gloucestershire, surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Cotswolds. The venue occupies a private valley, creating a wonderfully peaceful and secluded setting that feels a world away from the demands of everyday life.

The beautifully restored 17th-century stone buildings provide plenty of traditional character, while the light interiors, exposed beams and extensive grounds offer couples a flexible setting for their wedding celebrations.

One of the most appealing features of Kingscote Barn is its combination of indoor and outdoor spaces. Couples can enjoy the beautiful countryside surroundings while retaining the reassurance of having attractive indoor areas available should the weather be less cooperative.

The venue offers exclusive use, a choice of licensed ceremony locations, extensive grounds for photography and accommodation for wedding guests. The main barn accommodates up to 150 guests for daytime celebrations, with capacity for up to 200 during the evening reception.

For those looking for a countryside wedding venue where guests can spend the entire day in one location, Kingscote Barn has considerable appeal. It is beautifully presented without feeling excessively formal, allowing couples to create a celebration that reflects their own style.

From our perspective as musicians, it is also exceptionally well suited to live wedding music.

Wedding Ceremony Music at Kingscote Barn

The wedding ceremony is undoubtedly one of the most important moments of the day, and carefully chosen live music can make it particularly memorable.

Kingscote Barn offers indoor and outdoor ceremony options, allowing couples to choose a setting that complements the style of their wedding. The traditional stone barn provides a warm and atmospheric indoor location, while the outdoor ceremony areas make the most of the surrounding Cotswold countryside.

JAM Duo can provide live cello and piano music for the complete ceremony, beginning as guests arrive and continuing through the bridal entrance, signing of the register and couple’s exit.

We particularly enjoy performing for wedding ceremonies because live music allows us to respond naturally to everything taking place. Unlike a recording, which has a predetermined duration, we can adjust the length of a piece to suit the timing of the ceremony.

This is especially important for the entrance of the bride.

There is no need to calculate precisely how many seconds the bridal party will take to walk down the aisle, or worry about whether a song will finish too early. We watch the procession and shape the music accordingly, ensuring that the entrance feels natural and unhurried.

Indoor Wedding Ceremonies

The stone barn is a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony, with its traditional character and high vaulted ceiling providing a wonderful backdrop for live instruments.

Cello and piano complement the surroundings particularly well, bringing warmth and elegance to the space without overwhelming the intimate atmosphere of the ceremony.

During our first wedding at Kingscote Barn in May 2025, we provided ceremony music for Georgia and Ed. On that occasion, we used our elegant gloss black piano shell, creating the appearance of a small grand piano alongside Anne-Marie’s cello.

Their ceremony included a carefully chosen mixture of contemporary songs and romantic favourites, with Turning Pageby Sleeping at Last accompanying Georgia’s bridal entrance. The music worked beautifully within the setting of the barn, and the convenient access made the practical arrangements straightforward.

For couples planning an indoor ceremony at Kingscote Barn, we can discuss the most suitable position for our instruments based on the ceremony layout and your preferences.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies

For couples dreaming of an outdoor wedding in the Cotswolds, Kingscote Barn provides some wonderful possibilities.

The venue offers licensed outdoor ceremony settings, including the south-facing terrace and Linhay, with views across the surrounding countryside. These spaces offer a particularly attractive setting during the warmer months, allowing couples to exchange vows against a beautiful rural backdrop.

Live cello and piano music can enhance an outdoor ceremony without introducing the volume or visual presence of a larger musical ensemble.

We use professional equipment suitable for different wedding locations, including our Nord digital piano and electric cello where appropriate. With suitable amplification, we can provide a balanced sound for guests while retaining the natural character of the instruments.

The British weather does, of course, occasionally have its own ideas about outdoor weddings. We are accustomed to coordinating with venues when arrangements need to change, and can adapt our setup to suit an alternative indoor location where necessary.

Our priority is always to ensure that the music remains one of the simplest elements of your wedding planning.

Drinks Reception Music at Kingscote Barn

Following the ceremony, the drinks reception is the first opportunity for guests to relax, enjoy refreshments and spend time celebrating with the newly married couple.

Kingscote Barn provides an excellent environment for this part of the wedding day, with its reception and bar areas, terrace and adjoining outdoor spaces allowing guests to move around comfortably.

This is where live cello and piano music can make a particularly valuable contribution to the atmosphere.

Rather than filling the space with music that demands attention, we aim to create an elegant and welcoming background, allowing guests to recognise familiar melodies while enjoying their conversations.

Our repertoire includes contemporary pop songs, classical favourites, film themes and a wide variety of familiar music. We can create a relaxed, romantic atmosphere or incorporate more upbeat selections as the celebration develops.

Indoor Music That Can Be Enjoyed Outside

One particularly useful aspect of Kingscote Barn is the relationship between its indoor and outdoor spaces.

When we performed for Callum and Lydia’s wedding in October 2026, we were positioned inside the reception area for the drinks reception. However, the music could also be heard outside as guests moved between the building and the surrounding areas.

This worked especially well because guests were not confined to one space. Some remained indoors enjoying their drinks, while others moved outside to appreciate the surroundings, yet the music still contributed to the atmosphere.

It also demonstrates that an outdoor drinks reception does not necessarily require the musicians to be positioned outside.

Depending on the weather, the layout and the couple’s plans, an indoor performance location can sometimes provide a more practical arrangement while still allowing the music to reach adjoining areas.

We are always happy to discuss these practical details before the wedding so that the music works naturally with the venue rather than requiring guests to gather around a particular performance area.

Wedding Breakfast Music in the Main Barn

The main wedding barn is one of the most attractive features of Kingscote, providing a wonderfully atmospheric setting for the wedding breakfast.

With its traditional architecture, exposed timber and natural materials, the barn has a warmth and character that lends itself particularly well to live instrumental music.

For couples considering music during their wedding breakfast, cello and piano can create a lovely atmosphere without interfering with conversation.

The aim is not to turn the meal into a concert, but to provide a continuous and carefully balanced musical background that adds to the occasion.

As guests enjoy their food, we can perform a varied selection of familiar melodies, romantic pieces and personal favourites, adjusting the programme and volume to suit the atmosphere in the room.

Music That Reflects Your Personal Taste

One of the advantages of booking JAM Duo is the flexibility of our repertoire.

We regularly perform music by artists such as Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Elton John and Ed Sheeran, alongside classical pieces and well-known film soundtracks.

During Callum and Lydia’s wedding breakfast at Kingscote Barn in October 2026, their requested music included Concerning Hobbits from The Lord of the Rings, Maestro from The Holiday, Pure Imagination, Hoppípolla and How to Save a Life by The Fray.

They also selected music by Paolo Nutini, Kingfishr and other contemporary artists, creating a wonderfully varied programme that reflected their personalities.

This is precisely the approach we encourage. Your wedding music should include the songs you genuinely enjoy, rather than being limited to a conventional wedding playlist.

With cello and piano, familiar music can take on an entirely different character, providing an elegant instrumental accompaniment while retaining the personality of the original songs.

Moving Between Performance Locations

Another practical advantage of Kingscote Barn is the way the different areas can be used throughout the day.

For Callum and Lydia’s wedding, we began in the reception area for drinks before moving into the main barn for the wedding breakfast.

Because we bring our own professional equipment and regularly perform at weddings involving several locations, we are accustomed to managing these transitions.

We coordinate our movements around the timings of the day, ensuring that we are ready when the next part of the celebration begins.

For couples booking music for several parts of their wedding, this provides considerable flexibility without needing to arrange separate musicians for each occasion.

Cocktail Hour Music at Kingscote Barn

An increasingly popular addition to our daytime wedding music packages is the cocktail hour.

This usually takes place after the wedding breakfast and speeches, when guests leave the dining area and return to the bar or reception spaces before the evening entertainment begins.

At Kingscote Barn, this transition works particularly well because the venue has comfortable areas where guests can gather while preparations are made for the evening celebration.

During Callum and Lydia’s wedding, we returned to the reception and bar area following the meal and speeches, providing another period of live music until the evening celebrations approached.

It was a particularly enjoyable part of the day, with the more formal elements of the wedding behind us and guests able to relax and enjoy themselves.

Cocktail hour music can be slightly more upbeat than the music provided during the wedding breakfast, incorporating recognisable popular songs and film themes to create a sociable atmosphere.

It also provides a natural musical bridge between the daytime wedding celebrations and the evening DJ or band.

For couples planning their wedding at Kingscote Barn, we would certainly recommend considering this additional period of live music, particularly if there is a gap between the end of the wedding breakfast and the beginning of the evening reception.

Our Experience Performing at Kingscote Barn

One of the advantages of booking wedding musicians who have previously performed at your chosen venue is that they already understand many of the practical arrangements.

Although every wedding is different, familiarity with a venue can make a considerable difference when planning performance locations, coordinating timings and moving equipment throughout the day.

JAM Duo first performed at Kingscote Barn in May 2025, providing ceremony music for Georgia and Ed.

Since then, we have returned for further weddings, including Callum and Lydia’s celebrations in October 2026, and are already looking forward to another booking in December.

Our experience covers different musical arrangements, from a ceremony-only booking to a wedding involving several distinct performance locations.

Georgia and Ed – May 2025

Our first visit to Kingscote Barn was for Georgia and Ed’s wedding on 12 May 2025.

We provided live music for their ceremony, performing with our gloss black piano shell and cello within the beautiful barn setting.

Their musical selections included Turning Page by Sleeping at Last for the bridal entrance, All You Need Is Love and Your Song during the signing, and This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) for their exit.

It was a lovely introduction to Kingscote Barn, and we were particularly impressed by the setting and the friendly welcome from the venue team.

Callum and Lydia – October 2026

On 11 October 2026, we returned to Kingscote Barn for Callum and Lydia’s wedding reception, having begun the day by providing ceremony music at Holy Cross Church in Avening.

This was a particularly good example of how live wedding music can accompany several different stages of the celebrations.

Following their traditional church ceremony, we travelled to Kingscote Barn and provided music for the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and cocktail hour.

We performed in the reception area before moving into the main barn for the meal, then returned to the bar area for the final part of the afternoon.

Their musical choices were a lovely mixture of contemporary songs, film music and personal favourites, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the day.

With approximately 52 guests, it was an intimate and particularly pleasant celebration, and we thoroughly enjoyed being involved.

A Wedding Venue with a Wonderful Team

Beautiful surroundings are obviously important when choosing a wedding venue, but the people responsible for running the day can make just as much difference.

One of the things we particularly appreciate about Kingscote Barn is the genuinely welcoming attitude of the staff.

As wedding musicians, we work at a considerable number of venues throughout the year, and it soon becomes apparent which teams make an effort to help suppliers work efficiently.

At Kingscote Barn, we have consistently found the staff friendly, helpful and professional.

Whether we are arriving with our instruments, discussing the best place to set up or moving between performance locations, the venue team are approachable and accommodating.

These practical considerations might not be particularly glamorous, but they contribute enormously to the smooth running of a wedding.

For couples, this means suppliers can concentrate on delivering their services without unnecessary complications, helping the day unfold in a relaxed and enjoyable way.

It is certainly one of the reasons we are always pleased to return.

Why Choose JAM Duo for Your Kingscote Barn Wedding?

JAM Duo is a professional cello and piano duo specialising in live daytime wedding music throughout the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire and the rest of England and Wales.

Unlike agencies or larger musical organisations, JAM Duo is always the same two musicians: Jules Addison on piano and Anne-Marie Humphries on cello.

When you book JAM Duo, these are the musicians who will perform at your wedding.

We also perform entirely live, without backing tracks or prerecorded accompaniment.

This makes a particular difference during wedding ceremonies, where timings need to be flexible and musicians must respond immediately to what is happening.

It also allows us to adapt our performance to the atmosphere of the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and cocktail hour.

We bring our own professional instruments and equipment, including our Nord piano, electric cello, amplification and elegant piano shell where appropriate. An acoustic cello may also be suitable for certain ceremony arrangements, depending on the setting.

Because Kingscote Barn is relatively close to our Wiltshire base, it is a venue we know well and are always particularly pleased to include in our wedding calendar.

Although we regularly travel considerable distances for weddings, our local knowledge and experience of performing throughout the Cotswolds are especially valuable when working at venues such as Kingscote Barn.
