JAM Duo with Will and Julia

After a lot of travelling around recently, it was lovely to play for Julia and Will’s wedding at Upcote Barn in Gloucestershire just on the edge of Cheltenham. Aside of being local to our home in the Cotswolds, it was also a delight to play at Upcote Barn which is a lovely wedding venue and this was our first visit here.

Wedding at Upcote Barn

The wedding was to take place at 12 noon and we arrived in good time in order to set up. In fact we had arrived with so much time the ceremony room was still being decorated. When we arrived the first thing which caught our attention was a donkey. We never did find out the reason but it was definitely a quirky idea – we suspect there is more to that story so if anyone knows about this do please let us know!!

By 12 noon the ceremony room was ready and looked resplendent ready for the brides arrival. We played a selection of pieces as the guests started to gather which included:

Perfect – Ed Sheeran
Can’t help falling in love
The Force Theme – John Williams
The Luckiest – Ben Folds

As it was a warm day, most of the guests had gathered outside whilst waiting for the ceremony room to be ready and enjoying a drink or two in the sunshine.

Music for the Wedding Ceremony

Julia had chosen the following songs for her wedding ceremony:

Bride’s entrance song: A Million Dreams – The Greatest Showman
Signing of the register:
How Long Will I love you – Jon Boden
All of Me – John Legend
The One – Kodaline
Exit song: Forever – Chris Brown cover

After the ceremony we moved outside to play for the drinks reception. As it was a hot day we struggled a little to find some shade. Whilst we are not overly pedantic about being in or out of the sun, when you are sat in one place for a couple of hours, it can be tricky if we are sat in full sunlight. However, we found a suitable corner to set up (conveniently next to the drinks table!).

We played for a couple of hours whilst guests enjoyed drinks outside at Upcote Barn. The weather continued to be glorious right up to the point where the guests were called inside for the wedding breakfast when it just started to rain. With our instruments not being overly waterproof this luckily was a good time for us to finish.

We had a lovely time playing for Will and Julia and really enjoyed being part of their special day. We wish them every happiness for their future together as husband and wife.
