With Christmas rapidly approaching there hasn’t been any slowing down with the number of weddings and events we have been involved in. Today was a relatively local wedding for us just a few miles to the South near Bradford on Avon.

The Wedding Ceremony

Starting in the Ceremony room we were given plenty of space to set up in an adjacent conservatory.

This meant we had plenty of space for our Baby Grand Piano Shell as there was limited space in the actual ceremony room itself.

Ceremony Music

Music Pre Ceremony
All of Me (John Legend)
She (Elvis Costello)
The Night We Met (Lord Huron)
Oh Holy Night (Christmas classic)
The Final Countdown (Europe)

We had been asked to time the ‘Final Countdown’ to be the last song before Liz arrived. This was absolutely not a problem and we started it around 2 minutes before the official ceremony start time. Of course not all weddings run to time and so it ended up being quite a lot of improvisation around this them for nearly 15 minutes. Luckily Jules likes improvising and can make any piece last almost indefinitely to fit in with the circumstances!

Bridal Entrance
Can’t Help Falling in Love (your first recording, in the style of Brooklyn Duo)

Signing
Married Life (from Up)
Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)
Theme from Love Story (if extra song needed)

Exit
What a Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong)

As well as the music above there was another special song which was Hedwig’s Theme. We played this at the point the ring bearer was announced as, yes you guessed it, the ring bearer was a beautiful owl who flew in at exactly the right moment.

Wedding Drinks Reception

After the ceremony we had to move our instruments and our piano shell across to the main house for the Drinks reception and Wedding Breakfast. Because the doorways were quite narrow this meant we had to disassemble and rebuild our piano shell in order to get everything into the new space.

Nevertheless even the rain wasn’t enough to deter us and within 20 minutes or so we had everything back up and were playing again as guests enjoyed a glass of champagne.

As you can see Liz and Ian had been very thorough in choosing music for their wedding day. In addition they had asked us to play ‘Be Our Guest’ whilst their guests were being seated for the wedding breakfast.

We thoroughly enjoyed being part of Liz and Ian’s wedding day and wish them every happiness in their future married life together.
