The Wedding
Helen and Martin
The Reading Room, Alby, Norfolk
4 September 2021
Helen and Martin had chosen the Reading Room at Alby for their wedding. This turned out to be a beautiful venue just north of Norwich on the road towards Cromer. In fact before the wedding, we had ventured a bit further to the coastal town of Cromer for a short walk along the promenade.
Arriving in good time to set up, we had time to asses the venue and find the best position for our performance. Today we had been booked to play for the wedding ceremony followed by the drinks reception. However with the ceremony being held outside it turned out that we could stay in the same location for both parts of the day.
Music for a Norfolk Wedding
Starting with the ceremony we played as Helen walked down the path towards the ceremony area. It was a beautiful sunny day and Helen looked fabulous in her wedding dress. The cello sounded great without any amplification at this venue and we were in fact quite close to the wedding guests during the ceremony.
Drinks Reception
With the ceremony at 1pm the order of the day stated that fizz and canapés would be served from 1.30pm, photos would be around 2pm and then the Wedding Meal would be at 3.30pm.
Most wedding drinks receptions we play for are around 1-2 hours in length. This gives us plenty of scope to play a wide range of songs. Some brides leave it entirely up to us others specify anything from our contemporary play list, and on occasion we have been given a list of all the songs to be played during the drinks reception. Ultimately the choice is yours.
