The Wedding

Amy and Antony
24 September 2021
Nailcote Hall, Nailcote Ln, Coventry CV7 7DE

Today was our second visit in as many weeks to the delightful Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire. Last week we were there to play for Tracy and Philip’s wedding. Today was the turn of Amy and Antony. It’s always nice going to venues on different occasions as we get to see a different take in the same space.

Nailcote Hall Ceremony room

With fewer guests expected that the previous week, we decided to set up downstairs so we were nearer to the weddings guests and, most importantly, the bride and groom. Fortunately there was a well placed mirror which enabled us to see when the bridal party arrived. This was quite important as we had to play two pieces for the entrance. Firstly was Pachelbel’s Canon to herald the bridesmaids and then seamlessly into Wagner’s Bridal Chorus for Amy’s Bridal Entrance. With some careful timing and a little modulation we managed to pull this off.

Music for the Wedding Drinks Reception

After the ceremony was concluded we had to relocate out into the gardens for the drinks reception. Luckily there was a ‘staff exit’ which gave us a fairly direct route outside to the where the drinks were being served. It was a lovely sunny day and we were easily able to set up on the grass so we could entertain the wedding guests whilst they were served champagne on the lawns.

Once set up we played a number of items from our contemporary playlist which you can find our our listen page. This is by no means our entire repertoire – indeed there is probably no such definitive list as we are always adding new pieces. But it serves to give you a flavour of the music we play. With new pieces being added all the time we like to keep our repertoire fresh and engaging. Hopefully something to suit all tastes.

The Wedding Breakfast

Our final involvement with Amy and Anthony’s wedding was to play during their wedding breakfast. This meant moving once again – but this takes 5-10 minutes at the most. Provided we know when guests are expected to be called in for the meal, this again usually works seamlessly. The wedding planner at Nailcote was extremely helpful and efficient which really helped us to be the same, knowing exactly what was going on at each point in the day.

Setting up near the bar (!!) we carried on playing a selection of contemporary and jazz favourites for guests to enjoy during dinner. Normally we play to the point when dessert is served. Today this again turned out to be impeccable timing. Moments after we stopped playing a ‘surprise’ singing waiter launched into song – we didnt actually know about him either but it turned out that our timing was just right!
