JAM Duo can provide a range of music for your wedding day in the Cotswolds or indeed further afield. Based just near Westonbirt we are familiar with many of our beautiful local venues. These include fantastic places such as Westonbirt School, The Hare and Hounds Hotel, Tetbury, The Barn at Berkeley, Cripps Barn, The Barn at Upcote and Tortworth Court to name just a few.
Finding the right musicians for your wedding day is an important decision. With so much choice, you really can have anything you can imagine.
Daytime Wedding Music
When it comes to music for your wedding day the first consideration is the wedding ceremony. Some couples choose to keep their whole day in one venue others prefer to be married in a church and then go on somewhere for a reception.
Regardless of your choices JAM Duo can provide beautiful music for your ceremony. This will include:
- Music as your guests arrive
- Entrance of the bride
- Signing of the register
- Exit of the newly weds
Following the wedding ceremony JAM Duo can then provide music for your Wedding Drinks Reception and the wedding breakfast if you wish
Benefits of JAM Duo
Primarily we are of course a duo. Cello and Piano is our ‘standard’ lineup. Unlike a lot of other musical groups, eg String Trios, String Quartets or even bands, we never alter our line up. JAM is of course a blend of our initials – Jules and Anne-Marie. So even with the name we were committing to who was in the duo.
You might ask does that really matter? After all, surely all you have to do is play the notes in front of you. It’s true that as professional musicians we can of course sight read anything and have often taken requests at weddings which means finding some music online and playing off the cuff straight away.
It’s more than that, however. We rehearse together and so we are therefore prepared for your wedding. We give all our brides and grooms the chance to choose all the music for their wedding day (or leave it to us if they prefer). But either way, we come prepared. If it’s a song we play regularly then we know what’s going to happen – we know how fast we are going to play it and whether we are including the repeats for example. And if it’s something new, we will have taken time to rehearse it together on several occasions prior to your wedding.
Of course Jules and Anne-Marie have the added advantage of living together which does make rehearsing together a lot easier. But this is a significant benefit and essentially one of the reasons why we started our duo in the first place. The vast majority of string quartets, for example, can only rehearse together at pre arranged times.
We also have the huge benefit of our own recording studio which means we can record tracks pretty much at the drop of a hat. So if someone wants to hear how it might sound we will make a professional recording rather than simply playing into a phone for example.
