It’s fair to say that Aberdeenshire is a bit of a trek from our Cotswold home. Nevertheless Jules and Anne-Marie love a challenge and we also like travelling around. So when the opportunity to play for a wedding at Ballogie House in Scotland came our way, we jumped at the chance.

Yesterday we were playing for a wedding in Stoke on Trent, which is at least further North than the Cotswolds so we figured this was ‘on the way’ to Scotland. Indeed it was and, apart from a quick stop off in Lockerbie, some 5 hours later we found ourselves in Dundee which was our base for the night. This left just a mere 80 miles to go in order to find today’s wedding at Ballogie House in Aberdeenshire.
On arrival we set up outside – and yes even in Scotland the weather can be kind enough to allow an outdoor ceremony! Ballogie House was certainly looking stunning for the occasion and the backdrop is just fabulous looking over the Scottish countryside.
Today our role was to provide music for the wedding ceremony. With it being outside and our location a little way behind the wedding guests the sensible choice was to use our Yamaha Electric Cello coupled up with our fabulous new Bose Speaker system.
This means our music can be the appropriate volume for almost any setting but without ever becoming intrusive.
Before long the bridal party was making its way out of Ballogie House to where the guests had assembled for the ceremony.
The ceremony was conducted in the Church of Scotland Tradition and although in a slightly different order to that we are used to, with the signing of the register being in the middle of the service, it was beautifully lead by the vicar. All too soon it was time for the exit of the newly weds and time for us to head back down south.
