After travelling down to Sussex the night before, we headed first to the town of Lewes in East Sussex.
Here we found a number of quirky little shops which entertained us for a couple of hours before we headed to Alfriston where we were providing music for Lucy and Kevin’s wedding.
The Wedding
Lucy and Kevin
Dean’s Place Hotel, Alfriston, East Sussex
7 May 2022
On arrival we found the wedding planner who told us the plan was for today’s ceremony to be held outside.
Unpacking everything we found a fairly easy route to the garden behind the hotel and started to setup. Lucy had ordered our piano shell which required a bit more effort. But nevertheless within 20 minutes everything was set up and ready. We then had about an hour before the ceremony was due to start.
It was at this point we noticed the skies had gone extremely dark. Moments later the decision was taken to move the wedding ceremony indoors.
The Wedding Ceremony
Lucy arrived right on time, and didnt seem at all thrown by her ceremony being indoors. To be fair at this point it was really raining quite hard, although there was a break in the weather a bit later on.
The bride walked in to our lovely arrangement of Christina Perri’s ‘A Thousand Years’ which you can hear by visiting our listen page.
Drinks Reception
After the ceremony we relocated with our piano shell into the hotel restaurant for the drinks reception.
During the course of the afternoon as the rain subsided a bit the guests were then taken outside for the ‘confetti shot’.
As well as playing a set for the drinks reception we also took a couple of requests, one of which resulted in one of the younger bridesmaids dancing to our rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
We had a really lovely time at Lucy and Kevin’s wedding and we wish them both every happiness. They were so kind to us and also provided us with some sandwiches and a drink when we had finished playing and were packing away.
