Following hot on the heels of yesterday’s wedding for Elika and Lincoln, today JAM Duo were in the lovely Sussex town of East Grinstead. Having stayed over near to Gatwick (yet another Premier Inn) we had plenty of time in the morning to get a nice breakfast and wander around a few charity shops in East Grinstead before heading to today’s wedding venue.

Being a hot day, one of the first things we did was blag ourselves an umbrella to set up under! Whilst we try not to make too much of a fuss about the weather (how terribly British can one be!) if there is an opportunity not to be sat in full sun for several hours this is preferable!

The Wedding Ceremony

Today, was another outdoor wedding ceremony and we were invited to set up just to the right hand side of the ceremony area. This also put us in a good position to carry on playing through the drinks reception. Always handy when we are using our piano shell as this saved any logistics between the ceremony and the drinks reception.

Being outside we chose to use the electric cello. Coupled with our Bose speaker this is ideal for any outdoor performance. You get the same beautiful tone of the cello but with sufficient amplification to ensure it can be heard. This is particularly important for the Entrance of the Bride and also the exit of the newly wed couple.

Wedding Drinks Reception

Our location meant that we didn’t have to move for the drinks reception – and again the electric cello meant we could set the levels to suit and provide music across the entire venue (outdoors) without being intrusive.

But first there was the ‘confetti shot’… This gave us a chance for a short break before launching into our set for the drinks reception.

Continuing outside we played for around 2 further hours whilst Rebecca and Stephen’s guests enjoyed Champagne and Pimms out on the lawns around where we were playing.

The East Court Estate

The East Court Mansion and the Meridian Hall form part of the East Court Estate, which is set in parkland conveniently nestled in the serene Countryside of Sussex with sweeping views overlooking Ashdown Forest in the distance.

The Greenwich Meridian runs through historic East Grinstead, the hub for four counties, for this is the only place where East Sussex and West Sussex meets Surrey and Kent. The Meridian Line that seperates East from West is celebrated at East Court through the award winning formal gardens.
