Having said recently that we don’t often play for weddings in our home county of Wiltshire, here we are at our second wedding in Wiltshire in 2 days!

The Wedding

Matthew and Rosemary
Purton House, Swindon, Wiltshire
8 September 2022

Hot on the heels of a wedding earlier in the day, this was our second event, this time an evening do for Matt and Rose. It’s not that often that we get involved in the evening part of a wedding so this was a rare treat. It was however an absolute delight to return to Purton House. We were previously there for the wedding of Laura and Sander back in June 2021 and it was nice to hear that the venue recommended us for tonight’s gig.

Purton House

Purton House is a beautiful, family-owned Georgian home set in fabulous, mature gardens with its own lake. Part of the unique appeal of Purton House is that you can have exclusive use of the formal wing for your event, whether you’re looking to organise a wedding, anniversary party, business meeting or photo shoot.

While the house itself is bricks and mortar, the people behind the scenes are likely to be members of the family.

They care deeply about the success of your wedding. Both the venue and the atmosphere of Purton House are quite unique. Authentic and relaxed, this fabulous home and friendly family invite you to bring your own ideas and personality to the planning of your day.

JAM Duo – Evening Gig

Tonight was slightly different from most weddings we are involved in. We were asked to perform for a couple of hours in the evening after the guests had enjoyed the wedding breakfast. Our brief was to ‘get the party started’. Whilst we are not traditional ‘evening’ musicians we are often asked to play for a first dance and this was our starting point today.

Matt and Rose had chosen ABBA, I’ve been waiting for you as their First Dance. Ironically we have played this before for a wedding in Lulworth Castle where we also played for the first dance of Katharine and Aisling. You can see that by visiting our Watch page.

After the first dance there was the ceremonial cutting of not one but two cakes both of which had been made by the bride and groom! A bit later we had some cake and can vouch for it being superb!

We then carried on playing a selection of upbeat songs (with an 80s vibe) for around 2 hours whilst the guests danced and chatted. Purton House is a fabulous venue – self described as a boutique wedding venue, it is not the norm run of the mill, but something really quite unique.

We really enjoyed being part of Matt and Rose’s wedding. As we left the party was definitely in full swing and the guests were up and dancing to some classic 80s hits. We wish them both every happiness in their future married life together.

If you are getting married at Purton House or would like to talk to us about music for your wedding anywhere else in the UK then do please get in touch via our contact page.
