Today we were in Northamptonshire for a two venue wedding which started with a beautiful church ceremony in the Northamptonshire Village of Holcot.

Church Ceremony and Drinks Reception at Barton Hall
Our involvement with Naomi and Lance’s wedding started in the delightful church of St Mary and All Angels in Holcot, Northamptonshire. Here we were providing music for their ceremony but not including the bridal entrance and exit.
The Entrance of the Bride was played by the organist as, we believe, the organist was not keen on letting anyone else play the organ. It was sad then that the organist managed to stop playing the bridal entrance when the bride was only half way down the aisle and had to be told, rather loudly, by the vicar to ‘keep going’.
We see this all too often at church weddings. It’s not a problem to us if Jules is not allowed to play the organ, but it is just very sad to see ‘organists’, who clearly aren’t up to the job, making a dog’s dinner of someones wedding.
Anyway, I digress. The service was beautifully lead and it was our absolute pleasure to provide music during the signing as well as play whilst the guests gathered at the start of the ceremony.

The Drinks Reception at Holcot Hall
From the church it was a short drive to the nearby Holcot Hall where we were providing music during the drinks reception. On this occasion, as it wasn’t practical for us to get into Holcot earlier in the day, we had to ensure a swift exit from the church as we not only had to drive for 20 minutes but then unload, build our piano shell, re park the car elsewhere and be playing music before the bride and groom arrived.
Fortunately the timings worked perfectly and we managed to get ourselves set up and the car moved just in time for Naomi and Lance to arrive at the hotel. On such occasions the most important thing for us is to ensure everything is seamless for the couple. The fact that we have been running around like headless chickens and sweating buckets to make things happen is not at all relevant. It is our absolute pleasure to make ‘magic’ happen on someone’s wedding day so that our small part in the proceedings is as seamless as possible.
Music for the drinks reception
Naomi and Lance had chosen some great music for their drinks reception which included:
Girls like you – Maroon 5
Young and Beautiful – Lana Del Rey
Another Love – Tom Odell
Love Story – Taylor Swift
Wonderwall – Oasis
A sky full of a stars – Coldplay
This will be an ever lasting love
Naomi also asked us to play the Only Fools and Horses Theme Tune. This was actually the second time this has been requested at a wedding and its definitely a fun piece to arrange for cello and piano.
We really enjoyed being a part of Naomi and Lance’s beautiful wedding and we wish them every happiness as they embark on their future together as Husband and Wife.
