Having driven up from Devon the night before, we stayed relatively locally to Balbirnie House and arrived with plenty of time to spare. We have got a few bookings at this venue coming up but this was our first wedding there and so we wanted time to establish how far everything was and to check whether the ceremony was indoors or outside.
As is so often the preference for most couples, today’s wedding was outside on the lawns and fortunately there was a well placed tree which offered us some shade to set up with our instruments.

Olivia had requested we arrange our version of Can’t Help Falling in love to be in a higher key to create a dramatic effect for her bridal entrance – which of course we were more than happy to do. Making little tweaks to our arrangements is very easy for us and can usually just be done on the day without much or any additional effort. This is one of the advantages of live musicians versus fixed backing tracks.
The Drinks Reception
After the ceremony we relocated just across the gardens a short distance to set up again for the outdoor drinks reception. Once again we had found the shade of a tree but moved so we could be in the same space of the guests.
For this point in the day Olivia and Euan had requested happy upbeat songs that their guests could sing along to.
