There’s something truly magical about a coastal wedding, and Eva and Tom’s celebration at the Branksome Dene Roomsin Poole captured all the beauty and joy that a seaside setting has to offer. With panoramic views of the beach and the sparkling sea beyond, this intimate venue provided the perfect backdrop for a heartfelt ceremony and a relaxed, sun-kissed drinks reception.
JAM Duo were delighted to be part of the day, providing live music for both the ceremony and the drinks reception. With the day expertly coordinated by Sam and Claire from Southcoast Wedding Planners, everything flowed seamlessly from start to finish – and it was a real pleasure to work alongside such a professional and friendly team once again.
A Unique and Colourful Celebration by the Sea
The Branksome Dene Rooms are a hidden gem on the Dorset coast – perched above the sand with sweeping views of the sea, they offer a beautiful indoor space paired with breathtaking outdoor scenery. It’s a setting that feels relaxed, informal, and personal, while still being undeniably special.
The tone of the day was set beautifully by Eva, who looked absolutely fabulous in her white dress, glowing with happiness as she prepared to walk down the aisle. Adding a joyful splash of colour, her bridesmaids wore bright dresses in a mix of vibrant hues, which reflected the couple’s fun-loving spirit and the summer coastal vibe of the day.
Ceremony Music – From Romance to Adventure
The ceremony took place inside the Branksome Dene Rooms, with its large windows letting in the light and giving guests a view of the beach just beyond. Jules performed on his Nord piano enclosed in our gloss black piano shell, while Anne-Marie played her Yamaha electric cello, combining to create JAM Duo’s signature sound – warm, elegant, and completely live.
As guests took their seats, we began with a soulful performance of All My Life by K-Ci and JoJo – a beautiful and emotional choice that set the tone perfectly for what was to come.
For the bridal entrance, Eva made a stunning entrance to The Kiss / Last of the Mohicans – a bold and cinematic piece that built drama and atmosphere with its haunting melody and sweeping cello lines. It’s not a traditional wedding choice, but it was powerful, emotive, and absolutely fitting for the moment.
During the signing of the register, we played:
- Once Upon a Dream from Sleeping Beauty – delicate and magical, echoing a fairytale atmosphere
- Stand By Me – a timeless classic that always strikes a chord with couples and guests alike
And for the couple’s joyful exit, we performed You’ve Got the Love – an uplifting and celebratory piece that had guests smiling and swaying as Eva and Tom walked back up the aisle, officially husband and wife.
A Beachside Drinks Reception with a Soundtrack to Match
After the ceremony, guests stepped out onto the terrace area to enjoy drinks and beach views. We followed them out, relocating quickly and unobtrusively to continue performing for the drinks reception.
We opened with Feeling Good by Nina Simone – bold, jazzy, and filled with confidence – a brilliant way to kick off the celebration. From there, we moved into a mix of upbeat covers, ranging from chart hits to familiar classics, all arranged in our unique cello and piano style. The aim was to keep the energy joyful and breezy, complementing the sunshine, the sea breeze, and the laughter of friends and family enjoying the view.
Our live music added an elegant but relaxed vibe to the afternoon – giving guests a memorable musical experience while never overpowering the atmosphere.
A Day to Remember
Eva and Tom’s wedding was a true celebration of love, joy, and individuality – from the vibrant bridesmaid dresses to the unique ceremony music and the beautiful beach setting. It was a real honour for JAM Duo to be part of their day, and we’re so grateful to have played a role in such a special moment.
