There are some weddings that feel beautifully considered from the very first moment — where everything flows effortlessly, and the atmosphere is quietly confident, warm, and full of meaning. Nick and Barbora’s wedding at Newhall Estate in Scotland was exactly that.
We had the pleasure of providing music throughout the day — from the ceremony in the Granary, through to the drinks reception in the Sunroom, and into the wedding breakfast in the Coach House. It was a full day of music, thoughtfully woven into each part of the celebration.
A Stunning Setting (and a Seamless Start)
Newhall Estate is one of those venues that seems designed for weddings that move naturally from one space to another. Each area feels distinct, yet connected — and for musicians, that makes a real difference.
Following the ceremony, the team at the venue very kindly helped us move some of our equipment using their buggy. It’s a small detail, but one that made the transition completely seamless. Within minutes, we were set up and playing again as guests arrived into the drinks reception — no break in atmosphere, no interruption to the flow of the day.
It’s exactly how it should feel.
The Ceremony — Thoughtful, Personal, Perfectly Timed
The ceremony itself took place in the Granary, with guests arriving from 1pm ahead of the 2pm start. As always, we shaped the music to gently settle the room and create a sense of anticipation.

Pre-ceremony music included:
- All the Small Things — Blink 182
- Ordinary — Alex Warren
- Paradise — Coldplay
- You’ll Be in My Heart — Phil Collins
- You Raise Me Up
A lovely mix — relaxed, familiar, and emotionally warm without ever feeling overdone.
The Entrance
For the bridal entrance, Barbora chose a beautiful two-part transition — something we always enjoy shaping live.
- Bridesmaids: I See the Light (from Tangled)
- Bride: Yellow — Coldplay
The shift between the two worked perfectly. As the bridesmaids made their entrance, there was a softness to the room — and then, as Barbora appeared, everything lifted slightly. It’s a subtle moment, but one that defines the ceremony when it’s done well.
And Barbora looked absolutely stunning. The pastel spring colour palette — blush pink bridesmaids, stone suits for the groomsmen — all came together effortlessly.
Signing of the Register
During the signing, we performed:
- Secrets — OneRepublic
- Can’t Help Falling in Love — Elvis Presley
- I’ve Been Waiting for You — ABBA (Mamma Mia)
A lovely set — romantic, recognisable, and perfectly suited to the moment.
The Exit
For the couple’s exit:
- Many of Horror — Biffy Clyro
A brilliant choice — uplifting, emotional, and just the right amount of energy to carry everyone out into the next part of the day.
Drinks Reception — Effortless Atmosphere
With guests moving into the Sunroom from 2:30pm, the tone shifted naturally into something more relaxed and sociable.
Because of the quick transition (helped along by the venue team and their buggy), there was no lull — the music simply continued, evolving into a lighter, more conversational backdrop.
For the drinks reception, Nick and Barbora were happy for us to shape the music ourselves, which allowed us to respond to the room in real time. This is where live music really comes into its own — adjusting tempo, style, and familiarity depending on how the space feels.
With around 85 guests, the atmosphere was just right — busy enough to feel lively, but intimate enough that every interaction still mattered.
A Thoughtful International Touch
One of the most memorable aspects of the day was the blend of cultures.
Many of Barbora’s family had travelled from the Czech Republic, and the couple had thoughtfully ensured that everything felt inclusive. Menus were printed in both English and Czech, and during the speeches, translations were shared so that everyone could fully take part.
It created a lovely sense of connection — no one was left out, and the whole room felt genuinely united.

Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
Speeches took place at 4:30pm, just before the wedding breakfast began at 5pm in the Coach House.
As guests moved through, we once again transitioned with them — maintaining continuity and keeping the atmosphere consistent throughout the day.
The Coach House has a 90dB sound limit, which is quite typical for spaces like this. It’s something we’re very used to working within, and it simply means shaping the music in a way that supports conversation rather than competing with it.
During the meal, we continued with a carefully balanced set — elegant, unobtrusive, but always present enough to carry the room.
Why This Wedding Worked So Well
Looking back, what made this day stand out wasn’t any one single moment — it was how everything connected.
- A ceremony with real musical shape
- Smooth, uninterrupted transitions between spaces
- A drinks reception that felt natural and relaxed
- A wedding breakfast that brought everyone together
- And thoughtful details that ensured every guest felt included
And underpinning it all — a couple who trusted the process and allowed the day to unfold exactly as it should.
Planning Music for Your Wedding Day
If you’re planning a wedding at Newhall Estate — or anywhere with multiple spaces — one of the most important things to consider is how the day flows from one part to the next.
Music plays a huge role in that.
It’s not just about individual moments — it’s about how those moments connect. When everything is joined together seamlessly, the entire day feels more considered, more relaxed, and ultimately more memorable.
