Dorina & Thomas | 25th April 2026

There are some weddings that feel carefully planned, and then there are those that feel completely lived in from the moment you arrive. Dorina and Thomas’ wedding at Rudge Farm sat beautifully between the two — thoughtful in every detail, but relaxed, personal, and full of character in a way that simply can’t be manufactured.

We were with them for the full daytime: ceremony, drinks reception, and wedding breakfast. From a woodland sanctuary to a sunlit lawn and finally into a marquee filled with warmth and conversation, the whole day flowed naturally — exactly the kind of setting where live music can quietly shape the atmosphere from start to finish.

A Woodland Ceremony in the Dorset Countryside

The ceremony took place in a woodland sanctuary — one of those spaces that immediately changes how a wedding feels. No walls, no formality imposed by a building — just trees, light filtering through leaves, and a natural stillness that settles everyone as they arrive.

We set up to the side of the archway using our Nord piano and Yamaha electric cello, keeping everything visually light and in keeping with the surroundings. For this wedding, we didn’t use the piano shell — the setting didn’t need it. The simplicity of the instruments worked perfectly against the woodland backdrop.

As guests began to take their seats from around 12:10, we played through a wonderfully distinctive pre-ceremony set. Dorina and Thomas had chosen music drawn from film, gaming, and soundtracks — but not in a novelty way. These were pieces that clearly meant something to them:

  • Stormwind Theme (World of Warcraft)
  • Ezio’s Family
  • Final Fantasy Theme
  • Harry in Winter
  • The Shire and May It Be (Lord of the Rings)
  • Across the Stars (Star Wars)

What worked so well here was the atmosphere these pieces created. They’re cinematic by nature — expansive, emotional, and quietly immersive — and in a woodland setting, they felt entirely at home. Guests may not have recognised every piece by name, but they felt the tone immediately.

The Entrance

For Dorina’s entrance, they chose I Really Want to Stay at Your House from Cyberpunk — an unexpected choice, but one that translated beautifully into a live piano and cello arrangement.

This is exactly where live music matters most. The timing of a bridal entrance is never predictable — and in an outdoor setting, even less so. We shaped the music in real time, allowing the structure to breathe, building gently and arriving exactly where it needed to as Dorina reached the front.

No rush. No awkward ending. Just a natural musical arc that matched the moment.

Signing & Exit

During the signing, the tone softened:

  • Tale as Old as Time
  • Married Life
  • Angels (Robbie Williams)

Then, as they made their exit as a married couple, everything lifted into Accidentally in Love — light, joyful, and completely in keeping with the feel of the day.

Goats, Bell-Ringing, and a Perfectly Relaxed Drinks Reception

After the ceremony, guests made their way across to the lawn for drinks — but not before one of the most memorable moments of the day.

Dorina rang a bell… and from across the field, goats came wandering down to join the celebration.

It sounds like a small thing, but it completely set the tone. Guests relaxed instantly. Conversations opened up. There was laughter, curiosity, and just enough unpredictability to make everything feel alive.

This is exactly where daytime music plays its quietest — but most important — role.

We moved into the drinks reception set, continuing the couple’s theme of film, musical, and gaming music, blended with a few classics:

  • Dear Theodosia (Hamilton)
  • Ain’t That a Kick in the Head
  • Studio Ghibli selections
  • Themes from The Office US and Pokémon
  • Crazy Little Thing Called Love
  • Dancing in the Moonlight
  • F1 Theme
  • Hallelujah
  • Iris (Goo Goo Dolls)
  • Can You Feel the Love Tonight
  • Reflection (Mulan)

The brief was simple: anything that matched the mood.

And that’s exactly how we approached it — reading the space, the pacing of the afternoon, and the way guests were interacting. Some moments called for something recognisable and upbeat; others suited something softer and more atmospheric.

Because everything is performed live, we’re able to adjust instantly — not just what we play, but how we play it.

From Lawn to Marquee: A Seamless Transition into the Meal

As the afternoon moved on, guests were invited into the marquee for the wedding breakfast, with the meal beginning at around 16:30.

We repositioned onto the dancefloor area — again using the Nord piano and Yamaha electric cello — ready to continue the music into the next phase of the day.

One of the biggest advantages of having live musicians across the full daytime is continuity. There’s no reset in atmosphere. No sudden silence or shift. The energy simply evolves.

For the meal, we kept to the couple’s musical world — drawing again from film, Disney, Pixar, musicals, and gaming soundtracks. These are pieces that work particularly well in this setting because they sit comfortably in the background while still offering moments of recognition.

Guests don’t need to listen actively — but when they do notice, there’s always something familiar to catch.

It creates a layered experience:

  • conversation continues naturally
  • the room never feels flat
  • and the music gently supports the rhythm of the meal

The Feel of the Day

What stood out most about Dorina and Thomas’ wedding wasn’t just the setting or the music — it was the balance.

  • Relaxed, but not unstructured
  • Personal, but not overdone
  • Distinctive, without trying too hard

Even the practical elements played their part. The short walk between ceremony and reception kept everything connected. The warm April weather — unusually hot for the UK — allowed the day to breathe outdoors. And the guest count (around 60) meant it always felt intimate without ever feeling small.

Why This Kind of Wedding Works So Well with Live Music

Days like this are exactly why we love what we do.

A woodland ceremony, a lawn reception, a marquee meal — each space asks for something slightly different. Recorded music can fill those spaces, but it can’t respond to them.

Live music can.

  • It stretches when needed
  • It settles when the moment calls for it
  • It adapts to timing, movement, and atmosphere in real time

And perhaps most importantly, it never draws attention away from what matters — it simply supports it.

A Final Note

Dorina and Thomas trusted us with the full shape of their day, and it was a genuine pleasure to be part of it.

From cinematic soundtracks in the woods, to goats arriving on cue, to a sunlit drinks reception and a beautifully relaxed meal — this was a wedding full of personality and warmth from beginning to end.

Exactly the kind of day live music is made for.
