There are some weddings where the atmosphere feels joyful before the ceremony has even begun. Guests arrive already smiling, colour fills the room from every direction, and the music becomes part of the excitement building throughout the day.

Chris and Kayleigh’s wedding at Inglewood House and Spa was exactly that kind of wedding.

Set in the heart of Scotland with bright spring florals, hot pink bridesmaids dresses and a wonderfully upbeat soundtrack throughout the day, this wedding felt vibrant, relaxed and full of personality from start to finish.

JAM Duo provided live music for the ceremony, drinks reception and wedding meal, performing indoors throughout the day with piano and cello as guests celebrated inside the beautiful surroundings of Inglewood House.

From cinematic bridal entrance music to Outlander references, indie classics, 90s dance favourites and jazz standards during dinner, this was a wedding that reflected Chris and Kayleigh perfectly.

A Bright and Colourful Scottish Wedding at Inglewood House

We always love travelling to Scotland for weddings, and Inglewood House and Spa provides a brilliant setting for live wedding music.

The venue has a wonderful balance of grandeur and warmth. Large enough to feel special and impressive, but still intimate enough for live music to shape the atmosphere naturally throughout the day.

For Chris and Kayleigh’s wedding, the styling immediately stood out.

The colour palette was unapologetically joyful:

  • hot pink bridesmaids dresses
  • bright orange and pink florals
  • spring and summer tones throughout the venue
  • guests encouraged to wear colourful outfits, florals and bright seasonal styles

It created an atmosphere that felt vibrant and modern without losing any elegance.

The florals in particular looked incredible. The bright oranges and vivid pinks brought so much warmth into the ceremony and reception spaces, especially against the classic interiors of Inglewood House.

Live Music for the Ceremony

As guests arrived from 12:30pm onwards, we performed a varied pre-ceremony set that immediately established the relaxed and personal feel of the day.

Chris and Kayleigh chose:

  • All About You — McFly
  • The Office Theme Tune
  • All You Need Is Love
  • One Day Like This
  • Skye Boat Song

The inclusion of Skye Boat Song was a lovely detail as both Chris and Kayleigh are big Outlander fans. Instrumental versions of television and film themes often work beautifully at weddings because they feel personal to the couple while still sounding elegant performed live on piano and cello.

One of the things we particularly enjoyed about this ceremony playlist was how naturally it moved between emotional songs and more playful choices. Including something like The Office Theme Tune instantly relaxes guests and gives the ceremony a sense of personality before it has even started.

That balance is often what makes modern wedding ceremonies feel so memorable.

A Beautiful Two-Part Bridal Entrance

The bridal entrance music for this wedding was especially thoughtful and beautifully structured.

Chris and Kayleigh chose a live blend featuring:

  • I Giorni by Ludovico Einaudi
  • transitioning into Hoppípolla by Sigur Rós

The first section accompanied Kayleigh’s younger brother walking her mum down the stairs, followed by the bridesmaids. Then, as the bride entered with her father, the music moved seamlessly into Hoppípolla.

This is exactly the kind of moment where live musicians can make a huge difference.

Rather than stopping one track and awkwardly starting another, we were able to shape the transition naturally in real time so the music flowed continuously throughout the entrance procession.

The atmosphere in the room shifted beautifully as the second piece emerged for Kayleigh’s entrance. Performed live on piano and cello, Hoppípolla has an incredibly uplifting quality — emotional without feeling overly heavy — and it suited the bright spring atmosphere of the wedding perfectly.

Why Live Music Makes Such a Difference

One thing couples often tell us is that they want their ceremony music to feel responsive rather than fixed.

That flexibility matters enormously during weddings because timings are never completely identical from one ceremony to the next.

People walk at different speeds.
Bridesmaids pause unexpectedly.
Flower girls become distracted.
Guests react emotionally.

Live musicians can adapt instantly to all of that.

For Chris and Kayleigh’s wedding, the ceremony music felt completely natural because it moved with the pace of the room rather than forcing the room to fit around a recorded track.

That is one of the biggest differences between live wedding music and simply pressing play on a playlist.

Signing Music Full of Energy and Warmth

Following the ceremony, the signing music brought another lovely shift in atmosphere.

Chris and Kayleigh chose:

  • Angels
  • You’ve Got the Love
  • Better Together

This combination worked brilliantly because it mixed recognisable classics with something warm and relaxed.

Better Together by Jack Johnson always works beautifully during signing moments because it has such an easy-going warmth when arranged for piano and cello.

The whole ceremony felt personal and upbeat from beginning to end.

A Joyful Couple Exit

The newly married couple exited to:

  • Accidentally in Love

This is such a brilliant choice for a wedding exit because it instantly lifts the energy in the room.

Performed live, it created exactly the kind of celebratory atmosphere couples hope for at the end of their ceremony — guests smiling, laughing and immediately moving into the celebrations ahead.

Drinks Reception Music at Inglewood House

Originally, there had been hopes of holding drinks outside weather permitting, but even indoors the atmosphere remained wonderfully lively and relaxed.

One of the advantages of live piano and cello is that it works beautifully indoors during drinks receptions because guests can still comfortably talk while the music continues shaping the atmosphere around them.

For the drinks reception, Chris and Kayleigh highlighted a fantastic selection of music including:

  • Africa
  • Dancing in the Moonlight
  • Sweet Disposition
  • Latch
  • Together in Electric Dreams
  • Beautiful Girls
  • Coldplay favourites
  • Bittersweet Symphony

This was exactly the kind of playlist we love performing because it blends nostalgia, indie music, modern pop and feel-good classics in a way that keeps the atmosphere moving naturally throughout the afternoon.

Ending with a 90s Dance Medley

One of our favourite requests from the entire wedding was Chris and Kayleigh’s wish to finish the drinks reception with a 90s dance-style medley.

They specifically mentioned songs such as:

  • Gypsy Woman
  • Sweet Harmony
  • Better Off Alone
  • Children

We absolutely love creating moments like this because it catches guests slightly by surprise while still feeling elegant and musical performed instrumentally.

Live piano and electric cello versions of 90s dance tracks create a really unique atmosphere during weddings. Guests instantly recognise the melodies, but hearing them reimagined acoustically gives them a completely different energy.

By this point in the day, the atmosphere had become wonderfully relaxed and upbeat as guests returned from photographs and settled fully into the celebrations.

Live Music During the Wedding Meal

JAM Duo also performed throughout the wedding breakfast, helping maintain the atmosphere as guests moved into the next part of the day.

One thing we always encourage couples to think about is continuity.

When live music stops completely after the drinks reception, there can sometimes be a noticeable drop in atmosphere as guests transition into the meal.

Continuing live music into the wedding breakfast keeps the energy flowing naturally while still allowing conversation and speeches to remain central.

Chris and Kayleigh chose a fantastic direction for the meal music:

  • upbeat pop
  • indie favourites
  • jazz standards
  • slightly unexpected choices
  • energetic but still elegant

They requested:

  • I Believe in a Thing Called Love
  • Mika
  • Chappell Roan
  • Alanis Morissette
  • Etta James
  • Nina Simone
  • Nat King Cole

That variety gave the meal a really distinctive atmosphere.

Rather than becoming overly formal, the wedding breakfast remained lively, colourful and full of personality — exactly in keeping with the rest of the day.

A Wedding Full of Personality

One of the things we loved most about Chris and Kayleigh’s wedding was how confidently it reflected them as a couple.

Nothing felt chosen simply because it was “traditional”.

Instead, every part of the music and styling felt personal:

  • Outlander references
  • indie anthems
  • bright spring colours
  • 90s dance music
  • classic jazz
  • modern pop
  • cinematic bridal entrance music

It all came together to create a wedding that felt genuinely memorable and completely individual.

Live Wedding Music in Scotland

Scotland is always an incredible place for weddings.

The venues often combine dramatic surroundings with wonderfully warm hospitality, and couples frequently embrace personality and individuality in their wedding planning choices.

At Inglewood House, the balance between elegant interiors and relaxed atmosphere worked perfectly for live piano and cello throughout the day.

Because JAM Duo performs fully live — always without backing tracks — we can shape the music around the atmosphere of the room in real time, whether that means emotional ceremony moments, relaxed drinks receptions or upbeat meal performances.
