Beautiful ceremony choices inside and out

Make an entrance with the 120-foot-long aisle in Queen Charlotte’s oak-paneled gallery or opt for an al fresco affair in the inner courtyard on warmer days. The Grand Salon offers a third option so there is something to suit every taste.

Queen Charlotte’s oak-panelled gallery affords every Bride an amazing entrance, thanks to its 120-foot-long aisle. The dual-aspect windows flood the room with light, and the neutral array of silk house flowers completes this space.
In the Grand Salon, the high hand-painted ceiling and double-height sash windows make this a bright and airy space in which to say: ‘I do.’ The feature fireplace is a beautiful backdrop, and the baby grand piano offers live musical accompaniment.

You can opt for an outside ceremony. The original carriageway is our licensed setting for this, and you can choose from the inner or outer courtyard setting.

Fine dining in a royal Ballroom setting

The former Marquis of Buckingham’s Ballroom is an exquisite setting for fine dining. Seat up to 116 guests under crystal chandeliers and double-height mirrors.

Like the royalty who once feasted here, be spoilt with our chef’s culinary expertise. From multi-course plated dinners to lavish buffets, create your own bespoke menu with your Personal Wedding Manager, who will guide you through our exciting options as well as every aspect of your day.

Should you want something special, we are thrilled to accommodate all tastes and dietary requirements, with particular attention to local and seasonal produce. Our specially-selected wines will complement your wedding breakfast, with our Dadnor English Sparkling Rosé exclusively available for your toasts.

For today’s wedding we found ourselves in Essex just near Braintree. In fact it followed on from Lisa and Garrick’s wedding vow renewal ceremony near Chesterfield. Driving down to Braintree the day before meant we found ourselves in a Premier Inn overnight, but more importantly meant we were only moments away from today’s wedding.

We started the day in a curious Fast Food establishment called Tim Horton’s. This seemed to be a cross between McDonald’s and Costa almost to the point of plagiarism but nevertheless was a fairly good option for breakfast. Jules particularly enjoyed the banoffee latte, but then he does have weird tastes.

The Wedding

Ellie and Kaif
Gosfield Hall, Essex
Sunday 12 March 2023

Today we were booked to play for the wedding ceremony. We had also been asked to use the venue’s grand piano. This is always something we are happy to do, provided the instrument is in tune and maintained so it is at least playable!

The instrument in Gosfield Hall just about passed for this purpose. Whilst it was of course not in tune it did mostly work, although had a horrid tone to it. Luckily it was about enough in tune with itself that we could tune the cello a quarter tone flat and proceed with caution!

This always presents a challenge for us because we do like to accommodate our clients wishes and we had been specifically asked to play the venue piano. Fortunately on this occasion it was ok (just) but it is worth bearing in mind that most musicians (particularly Jules!) will be reluctant to use an instrument which is not going to show their skills in the best light.

Anyway fortunately on this occasion it was all ok and we matched up our Yamaha Electric Cello to a Bechstein Grand piano. There were some fab music choices for this wedding which included:

Pre Ceremony
Marry You – Bruno Mars
Beneath You’re Beautiful – Labrinth
All Of Me – John Legend
Make You Feel My Love – Adele
Diamonds – Rihanna
Girls like you – Maroon 5

Bridal Entrance
A Thousand Years – Christina Perri

Signing
Rewrite The Stars – The Greatest Showman
Without You – David Guetta ft. Usher

Exit
Symphony – Clean Bandit

We particularly enjoyed playing Symphony for Ellie and Kaif’s exit!

It was a real pleasure to be part of Ellie and Kaif’s wedding although it was over (our part at least) all too soon. We hope they enjoyed the rest of their wedding day and we wish them every happiness in their future married life together.
