Van Dyk by Wyldes – Hotel Wedding Venue in Derbyshire

Barely a week after our trip to Hodsock Priory for Tania and Dan’s wedding, we found ourselves back in that corner of the world for todays renewal of vows between Lisa and Garrick. Yes that’s right this time it was not a wedding, but in fact a renewal of vows as Lisa and Garrick celebrated their twentieth wedding anniversary.

The Occasion

Arriving in good time, we discovered a fair bit of snow still lingering through bits of Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, but this was certainly not enough to deter either us or Lisa and Garrick’s guests from turning up to the Van Dyk Hotel near Chesterfield.

The Ceremony

The format of the day followed the traditional wedding running order. Starting with a celebrant led ceremony, we provided music for the entrance which was a blend of two songs:

Bridesmaid entrance – There you’ll be by Faith Hill
Bride entrance – Lover by Taylor Swift

The ceremony was quite short as of course it didn’t include a register signing. For the exit of the ‘renewed’ couple we played From this moment on by Shania Twain.

Drinks Reception and Meal

With there being little space in the bar area, we moved to a different part of the ceremony room whilst that was being set up for the meal so we could continue to provide music during the drinks reception. This worked rather well as a lot of the group photos were being done in the ceremony room where there was a fabulous love sign.

After we had finished playing, Lisa and Garrick had very kindly provided us with a meal in the hotel bar area. This was very welcome as we then had to drive to Essex for tomorrow’s wedding which was just outside Braintree at Gosfield Hall.

We were particularly amused and entertained by the fact dinner was served by a robot!

We had a really great time providing music for Lisa and Garrick. They are a lovely couple and we wish them every happiness in their continued married life together.
