Living as we do on the Wiltshire border with Gloucestershire at the Southern most edge of The Cotswolds, today’s wedding at The Manor House Hotel in Moreton in Marsh was relatively local.

Our brief for today’s wedding was to play for the wedding ceremony, the drinks reception and then the wedding breakfast (meal).

Arriving in good time, we were fortunate enough to find on street parking which was right next to a side entrance to the ceremony room. This was particularly lucky as the weather was not very pleasing!

Within around 10 minutes we had our gear into the venue and were set up at the back of the ceremony room as decided by the hotel wedding planner.

Music for the Wedding Ceremony and Drinks Reception

The first part of the day started with the wedding ceremony and we played for the Entrance of the Bride, the signing of the register and then as the couple exited the ceremony room.

Due to the layout of the venue, we were able to remain in the same position for the drinks reception which meant we carried on seamlessly into a set of suitable music for people to drink champagne to.

The Drinks reception lasted for around an hour and then guests were ushered into the dining room for the wedding breakfast.

At this point we had to relocate with our Digital piano and cello so we could provide music whilst the newly weds and their guests enjoyed a lovely dinner.

Francesca and William had been kind enough to lay on some sandwiches and drinks for us which we had whilst we played for the wedding breakfast.

How long is a set?

Unlike most musicians we do not charge by the hour or per set. Nor do we clock watch . To us a wedding is all about the different parts of the day. The Wedding Ceremony, The Drinks Reception, The Wedding Breakfast, The First Dance or the Evening.

Regardless of which part of the day we are booked for we play for the duration of that ‘section’. When it comes to the Wedding Breakfast we tend to play throughout until the point that the final course is served. The reason for this is that we can then pack away discreetly and be out of the way before the speeches.

We really enjoyed being part of Francesca and William’s special day.
