JAM Duo are no strangers to playing for weddings at Bredenbury Court Barns. In the last few months we have been to Bredenbury three times and the weddings are always lavish and glorious affairs.
Today we were back at Bredenbury to play for the wedding of Jenny and Matthew.
Unlike previous weddings here, today we had our lovely Black piano shell and were also required to position ourselves at the front of the ceremony room next to the table. This we did, making sure not to block the fire escape. We also had to negotiate with a photographer and 2 videographers who were all vying for the best position.
Sometimes it does rather look more like a film set than a wedding but nevertheless we appreciate these guys need to be able to get the best frame of the occasion. With a bit of juggling around we did all find a suitable position and the ceremony went ahead!
Our role today was to provide music for the ceremony followed by an outdoor drinks reception. With the sound limits at Bredenbury this meant we were playing indoors with the doors open but, respecting the sound limits, this was still perfectly adequate and also saved us moving again with our piano shell.
Music Choices – Ceremony
Jenny and Matthew had been very specific about music and had made some lovely choices:
Pre Ceremony
Jurassic Park theme tune (John Williams)
Gabriel’s oboe
How Long will I love you (Ellie Goulding)
A thousand years (Christina Perri)
Songbird (Fleetwood Mac)
Bridal Entrance
Canon in D (just before bride arrives)
Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley) – Bridal entrance
Signing
Love Changes Everything by Andrew Lloyd Webber (accompanying a live singer)
From this moment on (Shania Twain)
The first song during the signing of the register required Jules to accompany a singer – the singer was also one of the wedding guests. With Jules being a professional and accomplished pianist, there was no need for a rehearsal beforehand. Everything sound absolutely spot on! If you have other musicians at your wedding and would like Jules or JAM Duo to accompany then we are always happy to do this. If a rehearsal is needed that can be arranged, or in most cases a quick run through on the day is more than adquate.
Exit
Only You (Yazoo)
Moving onto the drinks reception we were also given quite a specific playlist here too. We don’t mind either way – some couples like to choose all the songs played at their wedding, others just tell us the styles they like (or indeed don’t like) and some people leave it entirely up to us!
