Scotland is an absolute delight for us. Even though we live several hours to the South, we love driving up to Scotland to play for weddings there. This year we have already been to Scotland a few times and we were back again today for the wedding of Rachael and Jack. This time we found ourself in South West Scotland.

The Wedding Ceremony

On arrival we were shown around the venue by Jo who also knew exactly what we were doing and when. This was extremely helpful and meant it was very easy to set up on the balcony for the wedding ceremony. This gave us a great view of the Church of Scotland service as you can see from the photo above.

Music for the ceremony

Just the way you are

Exit
Better together

During the course of the wedding ceremony Jules also had to accompany a hymn on the piano. We didn’t have any notice of this until literally moments before – but absolutely not a problem, Jules quickly found the relevant tune online and without any fuss of anyone noticing the hymn was played exactly on cue.

Wedding Drinks Reception

After the ceremony we moved to the room next door in order to provide music during the wedding drinks reception. GG’s Yard is a beautiful venue and we had a fabulous view behind us across the terrace as we played. The weather wasn’t quite warm enough for everyone to be brave enough to be outside but we did have the option of having the doors behind us open if necessary.

Our brief for music during the drinks reception was anything from our modern and contemporary playlist. Whilst its lovely when brides choose lots of songs it’s also nice when we get freedom to pick songs too as this sometimes allows us to play songs which aren’t often picked. Although we are always conscious to ensure we get the right balance of songs which suit the venue and the wedding party.

After we had finished playing and packed away from the drinks reception we went outside to take in the view and also found a way of walking down to the beach.

We really enjoyed todays wedding and we absolutely love coming to Scotland to play for weddings here. It really is a beautiful country and the South West has some amazing scenery which we were fortunate enough to enjoy before embarking on our drive home.

Jules and Anne-Marie (JAM Duo) love playing for weddings in Scotland. We travel to Scotland on a good number of occasions every year and we are fortunate to experience some of the best venues the country has to offer.

We have always found the people in Scotland to be extremely welcoming and kind. Indeed Scotland is known for its outstanding hospitality and our experiences have always been positive.

It may be a bit of a trek for us to work in Scotland but we absolutely love it and we are always keen to book our next trip to this fine country.
