Once again we found ourselves at another local wedding. This time, just up the road near Cirencester at the delightful venue which is Cripps Barn. We are no strangers to Cripps Barn although this was the first wedding we have played for here. We have also played for a number of venues in the same group (Cripps and Co) which includes Healey Barn in Northumberland and The Tithe Barn near Bolton Abbey.

The Wedding Ceremony
Arriving in good time, we set up at the back of the ceremony room where there was plenty of space for our duo. When it comes to ceremonies, we never quite know whether we will be at the front or the back nor, in some cases how much space is available. Mostly this is never an issue as we can fit into the smallest of spaces, even if we are using our piano shell.
Today it was just The Nord Stage Piano and our Yamaha Electric Cello and so there was ample space for us to set up behind the wedding guests. Charlotte and James had chosen some lovely music for their ceremony. It was also the first time we had played Maestro by Hans Zimmer – we recorded this a few weeks ago and you can find it over on our listen page.
Music for the ceremony

The Wedding Drinks Reception
After the ceremony, we moved to the other side of Cripps Barn. The wedding guests were mostly outside but there wasn’t a lot of space and the weather was threatening rain. So we took the decision to play inside but by the open door which meant we could be heard throughout the venue with the benefit of our small Bose PA system .
Music for the drinks reception
Charlotte and James had sent us a list of some songs they wanted featured during the drinks reception. We then added in a few extras to fill the 90 minutes or so we were playing for keeping in the style of the songs chosen and fairly upbeat to suit the mood.
Signed Sealed Delivered – Stevie Wonder
I don’t want to miss a thing – Aerosmith
Better Together – Jack Johnson
Someone you loved – Lewis Capaldi
Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen
I’ll be there for you – Friends theme
Nobody does it better – Carly Simon
Bridgerton theme tune
Wake Me Up – Avicii
We really enjoyed playing a part in Charlotte and James’ wedding and we wish them every happiness in their future married lives together.
By the time the guests were heading into the meal room for the speeches, our duties at Cripps Barn on this occasion were done.
