Returning to Hyde House on 30 July 2023, this time we were providing music for Jon and Sara’s Wedding Ceremony and Drinks reception. Rather like the previous time we were there for Adam and Beth, the weather was being less than kind. In fact, this Summer we have more than our fair share of weddings being rained on. But it is what it is, and our job is simply to get on with it no matter what.
The Ceremony
Today was an indoor ceremony held in the barn at Hyde House. As we had our Piano Shell with us, we set up at the front of the ceremony (as confirmed by the bride and groom).
There was some lovely music for this wedding which included:
Pre Ceremony
Canon in D – Kissing You – arr. for Cello and Piano
A Million Dreams – Greatest Showman
Dreams – The Cranberries
Together in Electric Dreams – Human League
Hoppipolla – Sigur Ros
Bridal Entrance
The Dying Light – Sam Fender
Signing
Love is All Around Me – Wet, Wet, Wet
Always Be My Baby – Mariah Carey
Exit
Dancing in the Moonlight – Toploader
With 7 bridesmaids, Sara certainly got her money’s worth with the bridal entrance, and it was our pleasure to play ‘The Dying Light’ by Sam Fender for the bridal party as they came into the ceremony.
The Drinks Reception
After the ceremony we had to relocate to the Grove for the drinks reception which, due to the inclement weather, was once again held indoors.
Music during the drinks reception included:
All of Me – John Legend
Friday I’m in Love – The Cure
Your Song – Elton John
All the Small Things – Blink 182
Beneath Your Beautiful – Labrinth
Can You Feel the Love Tonight – Elton John
Jupiter from the Planets – Gustav Holst
Shallow – Star is Born (Lady Gaga)
Love and Hate Collide – Def Leppard
We really enjoyed being a part of Jon and Sara’s wedding. Music was clearly very important to them as Jon had even made his own playlist on our Soundcloud in the run up to his wedding as a means of choosing some of the songs to be played. You can hear a selection of the songs we play by heading over to our listen page.
