Today we were back in Yorkshire for Paul and Emma’s beautiful wedding at Holdsworth House near Halifax. This meant an early start from our home in the Cotswolds. However as we were playing all day up to and including the first dance we opted to find a hotel in Halifax that evening to avoid having to then drive 4 hours back home. Sometimes it’s the little luxuries in life which make this job easier. When we say luxury we in fact mean a Premier Inn….

The Ceremony

So anyway, arriving in good time we set up first of all for the indoor Wedding Ceremony where Paul and Emma had chosen some lovely songs for their wedding.

Bridal Entrance
Make you feel my love – Adele

Signing
Believe – Adam Lanbert/Cher
This I promise you – Ronan Keating

Exit
Your choice

Not many people leave songs to our choice but we were flattered that Paul and Emma were happy to do so for their exit. We chose ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ by Toploader for them This is a good upbeat song for the couple exit and we thought it was also fitting as we would be playing later for them as they had their first dance together.

The Drinks Reception

We then relocated outside for the drinks reception on the hotel lawns. The weather, which is the story of 2023, was a little unsettled but other than a few light spots of rain we were fine outside and most of Paul and Emma’s guests decided to stick with it as there was more space, and of course they could listen to our music!

The Wedding Breakfast

It was then all back inside for the wedding breakfast where we were given a stage to set up on. With meal’s we always opt to set our volume a little lower, just to ensure we are background music so that people can still chat. However, you never quite know. On this occasion the bride and groom asked us to turn the music up – which of course we were more than happy to do.

We love the variety in this job and we have found that wedding meals are the place where you never quite know what might happen. Some people like some very mellow cocktail jazz on the piano, other’s will sing along to Robbie Williams during the meal…!

The First Dance

After taking a short break and having some food which Paul and Emma had kindly provided us it was then time for their first dance together as husband and wife. For this we moved to be in the same space as the dance floor as well as allowing the DJ to set up on the stage.

The song Paul and Emma had chosen was Perfect by Ed Sheeran.

We thought this was a rather Perfect wedding and so the song was well suited to this lovely couple. Paul and Emma were a pleasure to work with and we thoroughly enjoyed being a part of their fabulous wedding. We wish them every happiness as they embark on their married life together.
