Today we were back in the now familiar surroundings of Coombe Lodge in Blagdon which is one of the more popular venues where we have provided daytime music over the last 12 months or so. On this occasion it was for the absolutely stunning wedding of Jamie-Louise and Nicholas for whom we were providing music during their ceremony and drinks reception.

Ceremony and Drinks

Starting with the ceremony we set up at the rear of the ceremony room in Coombe Lodge. Our usual place is in a corner where there is a convenient bay window which means we can be part of the ceremony but without taking up any space which would otherwise be needed by the guests.

Jamie Louise and Nicholas had chosen some fabulous music for their ceremony which was as follows:

Pre Ceremony
Hoppipolla (Sigur Ros)
I will follow you into the dark
A million Dreams (Greatest Showman)
Halo (Beyonce)
Shallow (A star is born)

Bridal Entrance
Lana Del Rey – Young and beautiful

Signing
Paradise (Coldplay)
Dancing In The Moonlight (Top loader)

Exit
Treasure – (Bruno Mars)

The request was for the bridal entrance to become more dramatic as Jamie-Louise entered! We hope we achieved this through use of a few effects and pads on the Nord to create a more dramatic sound to herald her arrival!

Following the ceremony we moved out into the main hall at Coombe Lodge. As requested we set up near the grand piano. The only issue for us is that the piano at Coombe Lodge, as with so many wedding venues whilst looking pleasing is in fact not that great to play. Such pianos are rarely tuned and this makes it very challenging to play with another instrument such as our cello.

However we appreciate that people like the aesthetics of the piano so what we usually do is set up our keyboard at the end of the piano so it looks almost as if Jules is playing the grand piano. This way we can control the sound both in terms of tuning and balance to provide hopefully the best of both worlds.

One of the reasons we use a Stage piano and electric cello is because drinks receptions can be surprisingly noisy and the reality is that an acoustic piano and cello simply wouldn’t be heard!

We really enjoyed being back at Coombe Lodge Blagdon and this was a particularly fabulous wedding. Jules loved the daschund which arrived during the drinks reception!!!

It was a very enjoyable occasion and we wish Jamie-Louise and Nicholas every happens as they embark on their married life together x
