Some wedding venues have an immediate sense of occasion the moment you arrive — and Swynford Manor is very much one of them. In February 2026, JAM Duo had the genuine pleasure of providing live cello and piano music for Lucy and Tim’s beautiful wedding ceremony and drinks reception at this striking Cambridgeshire venue.
From the calm, well-planned timings to the thoughtful music choices and warm, welcoming atmosphere, this was a wedding we thoroughly enjoyed being part of. Lucy and Tim — thank you for choosing JAM Duo to accompany such an important day.
A Modern Classic: Swynford Manor
Set just outside Newmarket in Cambridgeshire, Swynford Manor is a venue that combines contemporary elegance with classic wedding flow. The clean white architecture, stylish interiors, and thoughtfully designed spaces make it particularly well suited to live acoustic music.
One of the things we always appreciate as musicians is how smoothly the day can run here. With everything on the ground floor and the ceremony room positioned conveniently next to the bar area, transitions between parts of the day are seamless — something that makes a real difference to the guest experience.
Access on the day was straightforward via the double front doors, with free on-site parking and easy unloading — always a welcome start when working with piano, cello, and sound equipment.
Setting the Scene: Pre-Ceremony Atmosphere
Lucy and Tim chose a beautifully refined selection of pre-ceremony music, much of it drawn from the much-loved piano repertoire of Ludovico Einaudi alongside some timeless favourites.
Pre-Ceremony Music included:
- Due Tramonti
- I Giorni
- Jupiter
- Le Onde
- Nuvole Bianche
- Maestro (The Holiday)
This combination worked wonderfully in the Swynford Manor ceremony room. Einaudi’s flowing textures sit especially well with cello and piano, creating that perfect balance of calm anticipation and emotional warmth as guests arrived and took their seats.
With around 59 guests, the room had a lovely sense of gentle buzz — exactly the kind of atmosphere where live music subtly elevates the space without ever overwhelming conversation.
Lucy’s Stunning Bridal Entrance
Lucy and Tim selected a true modern wedding classic for the bridal entrance:
Bridal Entrance: A Thousand Years
This piece continues to be one of the most effective aisle choices for a reason — its gradual build and lyrical phrasing translate beautifully into a live acoustic arrangement.
As the moment arrived, the atmosphere in the ceremony room shifted instantly. The piano introduction created space and anticipation before the cello line entered with warmth and depth.
And Lucy… looked absolutely fabulous.
Her entrance had that wonderful sense of calm confidence that every couple hopes for, and the music supported the moment exactly as it should — expressive but never intrusive.
A truly lovely start to the ceremony.
Music for the Signing
For the signing of the register, Lucy and Tim chose a varied and upbeat trio of songs:
- Seasons of Love
- Accidentally in Love
- At Last
This is a great example of how signing music can gently lift the mood mid-ceremony. Moving from musical theatre warmth into romantic jazz and feel-good pop created a natural sense of progression while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and joyful.
In venues like Swynford Manor, where the acoustic is clean and present, these arrangements carry particularly well, allowing guests to enjoy the detail of the live performance.
A Joyful Recessional
To conclude the ceremony, Lucy and Tim opted for a wonderfully upbeat exit choice:
Couple Exit: Friday I’m In Love
This always works brilliantly for a recessional. The recognisable opening immediately lifts the room, and the rhythmic energy gives the newlyweds a real sense of momentum as they walk back down the aisle together.
It was a joyful, confident finish to a beautifully paced ceremony.

Seamless Transition to the Drinks Reception
One of the advantages of Swynford Manor’s layout is how easily the day flows from ceremony into drinks. With the bar area located right next to the ceremony room, we were able to reposition quickly and continue providing live music without any disruption to guests.
We moved into the bar area and settled into a relaxed drinks reception set while guests began celebrating with Lucy and Tim.
A Brilliant Drinks Reception Playlist
Lucy and Tim gave us a fantastic and wide-ranging drinks reception brief — exactly the sort of varied playlist that works beautifully when arranged for cello and piano.
Highlights included:
- All the Small Things
- All About You
- She
- Half the World Away
- Better Together
- High
- Dreams
- Can’t Take My Eyes Off You
- Sweet Child of Mine
- One Day Like This
- Signed, Sealed, Delivered
- Let’s Stay Together
- I’ll Be There for You
- Portuguese Theme (Love Actually)
- Pure Imagination
- Married Life
- The Office (US Theme)
- Marry You
- Songbird
- Kiss Me
What we particularly loved about this list was the balance between:
- Romantic classics
- Indie favourites
- Film and TV themes
- Upbeat feel-good moments
When performed live on cello and piano, even the more upbeat tracks take on an elegant, sophisticated character — perfect for drinks receptions where conversation and atmosphere need to coexist naturally.
Colour and Style on the Day
Lucy and Tim’s styling choices worked beautifully throughout the venue.
- Groomsmen: navy suits with burgundy ties and pocket squares
- Bridesmaids: dusty pink
This palette complemented Swynford Manor’s clean white interior perfectly, creating a soft, romantic look that photographed beautifully.
The overall feel of the day was polished but relaxed — exactly the balance many modern couples are aiming for.
