As of the week ending December 17, 2020, ‘Dakiti’ by Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez was the most-streamed track on Spotify with 38.56 million streams worldwide, followed by ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey with just over 32.5 million streams.

Neither of these are necessarily popular for weddings. To see what the most popular wedding songs are you have to scour various different playlists. Of course, like any other question you ask on the internet, the chances are the first page of google will give you several different answers. Below we have listed what our research suggests are the most popular songs in wedding playlists.

Spotify’s Top Five Wedding Songs Globally

  1. Marry You by Bruno Mars
  2. A Thousand Years by Christina Perri
  3. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran
  4. All of Me by John Legend
  5. Perfect by Ed Sheeran

  4. All of Me – John Legend
  5. I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) – Whitney Houston

The indication from Spotify is that Ed Sheeran is the most globally streamed artist for weddings and related events, with Bruno Mars and Dan + Shay close behind.  If we collate just the artists then the lists would be:

  5. Jason Mraz

Of course all of this is just ‘data’ based on what other people are doing. In the same way that you don’t necessarily watch things on Netflix just because ‘Everyone else is watching…’ you might choose something entirely different for your wedding.

The chances are the song choices above relate to the ‘first dance’. This is of course a very important special moment for most couples. But it isn’t the only point on your wedding day which involves music.

JAM Duo Music Choices

When it comes to choosing music for your wedding ceremony, the main points to consider are:

Entrance of the Bride
Signing of the Register
Exit of the Bride and Groom

If we are performing at the wedding reception or during your wedding breakfast in a lot of cases couples allow us to choose the music based on their stylistic preferences. However, if you have a favourite song or artist we are always happy to perform that for you as part of the set.

You can find inspiration by browsing our online repertoire list. However this is by no means exhaustive. If your favourite song isn’t listed the chances are we know it anyway, and if not we are always happy to perform new songs.
