What does the latest announcement from the government last night (22 February 2021) mean for you and your wedding?

The Prime Minister announced last night that weddings could restart without restrictions in England from 21st June 2021 at the earliest. Currently, weddings are banned except under “exceptional circumstances” during the Coronavirus pandemic.

There was also some news for wedding couples planning weddings in the spring. Based on his roadmap, Boris Johnson said that ceremonies and receptions could restart with 6 people from 8th March, 15 people from 12th April and then with 30 people from 17th May.

Having given out a load of dates, the Prime Minister then made clear that the easing of lockdown restrictions will be driven by ‘data’ rather than ‘dates’, which means this timeline will be subject to regular review every 5 weeks and that in fact nothing was certain.

Can Weddings go ahead in Summer 2021?

There is reason to be optimistic for summer weddings. Boris Johnson said in his roadmap announcement that he hopes all restrictions will be lifted by 21st June 2021 at the earliest – and he specifically referenced weddings and other life events. However, keep in mind that the roadmap’s timeline is subject to change depending on data nearer the time.

How to plan a Covid Safe Wedding with JAM Duo

JAM are confident that their performances are Covid Safe. Firstly there are only 2 of us and we can (if required) perform just as well wearing masks as without.

We only ever use our own instruments bring everything required for our performances. Even in a post covid world, we will continue to maintain high standards of sanitisation and cleanliness for all our gigs.

Stay in Contact With Your Venue and Suppliers

Find out from your venue and suppliers what measures they’re introducing for their teams. The most important thing you can do is work closely with the people involved in your wedding. Not only will this make it safer for everyone but it will lead to a stress free (yes that is possible at weddings) event for all concerned.

JAM Duo are currently taking bookings for weddings from June 21 onwards although accept that some dates in Summer 2021 may well be subject to change depending on how things go forward from this point.

Covid Policy

We are all in this together and to keep things simple any customer who has booked with us and paid a deposit can change the date without incurring any charge. We will simply carry over the deposit to the new date, no matter how far in the future it is.

In the event that a wedding is cancelled through no fault of ours, the deposits are non refundable. However, if a couple move to a new date which JAM Duo cannot do, for whatever reason, then we will refund any deposits paid.

We believe this is the fairest policy in the circumstances and we can’t wait to get back out performing at weddings.
