Live Cello and Piano | Ceremony & Drinks Reception
Tucked away in the Surrey countryside, High Billingshurst Farm near Cranleigh is a truly enchanting location – the perfect blend of rustic charm and refined elegance. We were delighted to join Sammy and Lee on their wedding day to provide live music throughout the outdoor celebrations.
Ceremony in the Walled Garden
The day began with a beautiful outdoor ceremony held in the farm’s stunning walled garden – a space full of character and natural beauty. Under clear skies and surrounded by florals, guests gathered as we set the tone with a relaxed pre-ceremony set: well-known melodies with a laid-back vibe to welcome everyone into the moment.
As the ceremony began, the bridal entrance was marked by a heartfelt arrangement of “How Deep Is Your Love” by the Bee Gees, performed live on cello and piano. The song’s timeless romance paired perfectly with the setting, making for a graceful and emotional entrance.
Since the ceremony was led by a celebrant, there was no signing of the register – keeping the flow personal and informal. As the couple were pronounced married, they exited to “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles, a joyful and uplifting classic that had everyone smiling.
Drinks Reception in the Courtyard
After the ceremony, guests were invited to the courtyard for an al fresco drinks reception. We seamlessly moved our instruments and setup to continue the music without interruption – one of the many benefits of having a compact yet versatile acoustic duo like JAM Duo.
During the drinks reception, we performed a lively set of recognisable contemporary covers, keeping the atmosphere vibrant and celebratory. The bride had one special request: to include something by Billy Joel – a request we were only too happy to fulfil. Our version of his timeless hits added a unique touch to the afternoon, combining musical flair with a personal touch.
Just Live Music – No Backing Tracks, No Gimmicks
As always, everything we played was completely live, arranged and performed by the two of us – Jules on piano and Anne-Marie on cello. There were no backing tracks, no tricks – just genuine musicianship tailored to suit the couple, the setting, and the moment.
