Live Ceremony, Drinks & Wedding Breakfast Music by JAM Duo

Some venues immediately impress with their blend of elegance, character, and thoughtful design—and Hyde House in the Cotswolds is undoubtedly one of them. Stylish yet welcoming, contemporary yet timeless, it’s a venue perfectly suited to the romance of a wedding day.

For Samantha and Ryan’s celebrations, JAM Duo were delighted to provide live music across the ceremony, drinks reception, and wedding breakfast. With intermittent rain moving parts of the day indoors, our flexibility meant the music continued seamlessly, creating the perfect soundtrack from start to finish.

Hyde House: A Cotswolds Gem

Located just outside Stow-on-the-Wold, Hyde House combines the charm of the Cotswolds countryside with purpose-built spaces designed for weddings.

  • The Grange Barn: A stunning light-filled space with soaring beams, neutral tones, and elegant décor, designed specifically for ceremonies. Its airy feel makes it romantic without being overwhelming.
  • The Courtyard: A relaxed yet stylish spot where guests can gather for drinks, framed by contemporary landscaping and elegant stonework.
  • The Hyde Barn: A beautiful reception space with rustic beams, modern lighting, and space for both dining and evening celebrations.

The flow from Grange Barn to courtyard to Hyde Barn works effortlessly, and for Samantha and Ryan it created the perfect sequence for a day filled with joy, laughter, and music.

The Ceremony

The ceremony is always the emotional heart of the day, and live music sets the tone from the very beginning. Samantha and Ryan had chosen a wonderful selection of songs, combining timeless classics with romantic favourites.

Pre-Ceremony Music

As guests arrived and took their seats in the Grange Barn, we performed:

  • At Last – Etta James
  • All You Need is Love – The Beatles
  • Somewhere Over the Rainbow
  • What a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong

This combination created a mood that was both elegant and joyful, setting the stage for the bridal entrance.

Bridal Entrance

The bridesmaids entered to a blend of Tale as Old as Time and Can’t Help Falling in Love, before Samantha made her entrance. Played live on cello and piano, this created a seamless transition that matched every step down the aisle with grace and emotion.

Signing of the Register

During the signing we performed:

  • Canon in D – Pachelbel
  • Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring – Bach

Two timeless classical pieces, they provided a calm and reflective interlude before the couple’s joyful exit.

Couple Exit

The ceremony concluded with Mr Brightside by The Killers—an upbeat, unexpected, and thoroughly fun choice that sent everyone into the courtyard with huge smiles.

The Drinks Reception

With intermittent rain, drinks were served in and around the courtyard, but we set up indoors to ensure the music carried across both spaces. Our performance could be clearly heard inside while still drifting out into the courtyard, creating a seamless atmosphere for all guests.

One highlight was a special request from the bride’s mother: Me and Mrs Jones, which added a soulful and personal touch to the reception. Alongside this, we performed a selection of contemporary covers requested by the bride, including:

  • A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
  • Turning Page – Sleeping at Last (from Twilight)
  • Beneath Your Beautiful – Labrinth
  • A selection of Ed Sheeran favourites

These requests sat beautifully alongside our repertoire of popular covers, ensuring the drinks reception was filled with variety, warmth, and familiarity. Guests chatted, laughed, and sang along quietly to some of the classics—it was a truly joyful atmosphere.

The Wedding Breakfast

As the celebrations moved into the Hyde Barn for the wedding breakfast, we relocated our set-up smoothly and discreetly, bringing our gloss black piano shell to enhance the aesthetic of the room. The piano shell not only gives the appearance of a grand piano but also complements the elegant interiors of Hyde House, adding a sense of luxury to the performance space.

Guests enjoyed a relaxed and stylish dining experience with live cello and piano providing the backdrop. Our music helped keep the energy alive while still allowing conversation to flow naturally.

The Importance of Live Music

Throughout Samantha and Ryan’s wedding, live music played a vital role in shaping the atmosphere:

  • Ceremony: Timing every phrase perfectly to the pace of the bridal entrance, creating a natural cadence at key moments.
  • Drinks: Providing a seamless soundtrack while the couple were occupied with photographs and guests mingled.
  • Meal: Enhancing the dining experience with elegance, warmth, and variety.

A playlist simply can’t replicate this flow or the responsiveness of live musicians. At JAM Duo, every performance is always live, always us—Jules on piano, Anne-Marie on cello—with no backing tracks and no substitutes.

Thank You

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Samantha and Ryan for choosing JAM Duo to provide the soundtrack to their wedding day at Hyde House. It was an honour to perform for you and your guests, and to be part of such a stylish and joy-filled celebration.

Samantha looked stunning as she walked down the aisle, and it was a privilege to accompany those unforgettable moments with live music.

Final Thoughts

For Samantha and Ryan, their choices of music reflected romance, fun, and family connection—everything a wedding day should be. We were delighted to provide live cello and piano across their ceremony, drinks, and meal, and to share in the joy of their day.
