Choosing the right wedding venue is one of the most important decisions you’ll make when planning your big day. For couples seeking a setting that combines rustic charm, waterside views, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, The Mill at Stone in Staffordshire is an excellent choice.

Nestled along the Trent and Mersey Canal, this historic converted corn mill blends characterful architecture with modern facilities, creating a unique backdrop for your wedding celebrations. Whether you’re dreaming of a cosy indoor ceremony, a relaxed drinks reception, or a vibrant wedding breakfast filled with laughter, The Mill offers a versatile and picturesque space in the heart of Staffordshire.

A Venue Steeped in History

The Mill has stood at the heart of Stone for centuries, once powered by the River Trent to grind corn for the surrounding community. Today, its historic beams, brickwork, and waterside location offer a perfect blend of tradition and romance. The building has been thoughtfully restored, maintaining its character while providing all the comforts and amenities needed for a modern wedding celebration.

Couples are drawn to The Mill not just for its history, but also for its beautiful setting. The riverside views and charming interiors make it a venue full of atmosphere, ideal for creating lasting memories with your family and friends.

Ceremony, Drinks, and Wedding Breakfast

The Mill is fully licensed for civil ceremonies, meaning you can exchange vows in a romantic indoor setting, sheltered from the famously changeable British weather. After the ceremony, the venue provides inviting spaces for your drinks reception—whether that’s indoors beside the bar or, on sunnier days, enjoying the riverside views outside.

The wedding breakfast is typically held in the main function rooms, which combine rustic character with a welcoming, celebratory feel. From intimate gatherings to larger celebrations, the flexible spaces at The Mill make it possible to tailor the day to your vision.

JAM Duo at The Mill

JAM Duo had the pleasure of performing at the wedding of Rebecca and Nicholas at The Mill in Stone. Their day was marked by plenty of rain, which kept most of the celebrations indoors—but the beauty of The Mill is that it lends itself perfectly to an indoor celebration.

We provided live music throughout the day:

  • Ceremony: including a beautiful bridal entrance to Can’t Help Falling in Love and I Get to Love You.
  • Drinks Reception: keeping guests entertained and creating a warm atmosphere while the newlyweds took photos.
  • Wedding Meal: adding a joyful soundtrack to the wedding breakfast with a mixture of romantic and uplifting songs.

Rebecca looked stunning in her dress, and the entire day felt intimate, joyful, and full of love. Even though the rain kept everyone inside, The Mill provided the perfect setting, and live music ensured the atmosphere remained vibrant from start to finish.

Why Choose The Mill at Stone

  • Character and Charm: With its history as a working corn mill, the venue has an authentic, rustic feel.
  • Waterside Location: Situated alongside the canal and River Trent, the views are tranquil and picturesque.
  • Versatility: Indoor and outdoor options for different parts of your day, all within one venue.
  • Atmosphere: Whether intimate or lively, the Mill creates a warm, welcoming backdrop.

The Importance of Live Music at The Mill

Venues like The Mill truly come alive with the addition of live music. The characterful interiors provide beautiful acoustics for cello and piano, filling the space with a sound that enhances the romance and celebration of the day.

At JAM Duo, we pride ourselves on creating seamless musical experiences—moving effortlessly between ceremony, drinks, and meal so that the soundtrack to your day is continuous and perfectly timed. We perform always live, always us(Jules on piano, Anne-Marie on cello), without backing tracks or substitutes.
