We love going to Elmore Court. Not only is it a fabulous venue with really lovely wedding planners, it is also one of our more local venues in Gloucestershire. We therefore always look forward to a wedding at Elmore Court, and today was no exception.

Ceremony and Drinks

Today we were providing music for Charlotte and Adam’s Wedding Ceremony and Drinks Reception.

Pre Ceremony

  1. Songbird (Fleetwood Mac / Eva Cassidy) arranged for Cello and Piano
  2. Beautiful In White – (Shane Filan)
  3. River Flows in You – Canon in D – Cello and Piano
  4. Strangers In The Night (Frank Sinatra) arranged for Cello and Piano
  5. Now We Are Free (Hans Zimmer) from Gladiator

Bridal Entrance

For the bridal entrance Charlotte had chosen Blessings by David Folk, but with a slight twist. There was a certain part of the song she wanted to play at the moment she entered after her 5 bridesmaids and 1 flower girl. She also wanted the bridesmaids to only start to enter once the cello came in.

However, to do this we had to shorten the original piano introduction and then lengthen the first cello section. But this is, for us anyway, a very simple process and something we can just do at sight on the day. Ultimately this is the point of having live musicians, and not just that. Unlike a lot of ‘live’ musicians, JAM Duo never use backing tracks. We play every single note and can adapt the music to suit the occasion, which is particularly useful when timing a bridal entrance.

Brides have enough to think about on their wedding day. Not having to worry about the music is just one of many reasons why JAM Duo are ideally suited as musicians for your wedding ceremony.

Signing of the Register

  1. Dancing In The Moonlight (Toploader) arranged for Cello and Piano
  2. Yellow (Coldplay)

Couple Exit

All You Need Is Love (The Beatles)

Having set up near the venue grand piano (which is in fact not playable) we were able to remain in the same location for the drink reception. Whilst we are happy to relocate between ceremony and drinks, and we have sometimes gone into the bar area at Elmore, sometimes it doesn’t create any benefit. Today was one of those occasions where we could easily be heard throughout the areas of the venue guests were congregating and it would have been more inconvenient for everyone if we had started to shuffle around with our instruments!

So we stayed in the ceremony room with the doors open and after a while quite a lot of people came to listen to the music and indeed create some space to chat.

Music for the drinks reception was left to us to choose. Charlotte and Adam had however given us guidance and asked for a mixture of Jazz and Easy listening music and nothing too modern! This suits us very well. Whilst we play a lot of Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, we also love a bit of Aretha Franklin, Buddy Holly and Jerome Kern!

We really enjoyed being a part of Charlotte and Adam’s wedding and we wish them every happiness for their married future together.
