There’s something truly magical about autumn weddings at Quantock Lakes. The soft golden light, the crisp air, and the warmth of rustic interiors make this Somerset venue one of our absolute favourites to perform at. For Lucy and Connor’s wedding, the venue was filled with the glow of burnt-orange florals and joyful anticipation as guests gathered to celebrate their day.

Arriving at Quantock Lakes

Set within the rolling hills of Somerset, Quantock Lakes is a venue that blends country charm with elegant, modern style. Surrounded by lakes and open countryside, it’s the sort of place where every direction feels like a postcard. The ceremony room itself, with its sweeping wooden beams and soft natural light, created the perfect backdrop for live music.

For this wedding, we (Jules on piano and Anne-Marie on electric cello) were positioned at the back of the room — an ideal vantage point to accompany the ceremony while ensuring the couple and their guests could fully take in the moment.

We brought along our Nord Stage piano, housed inside our gloss-black piano shell, which always adds a touch of sophistication to the setup. It’s an optional upgrade that some couples choose for their wedding — and it always looks stunning in photos, complementing the setting beautifully.

The Ceremony Music

Lucy and Connor had chosen a playlist that perfectly balanced romance, emotion, and a few uplifting touches — ideal for a relaxed yet elegant wedding ceremony.

Pre-Ceremony:

  1. Can’t Help Falling in Love – Elvis Presley
  2. Half the World Away – Oasis
  3. Feels Like I’m Falling in Love – Coldplay
  4. Angels – Robbie Williams
  5. When You Say Nothing at All – Ronan Keating

This mix of classic and contemporary love songs created a lovely atmosphere as guests arrived and settled in.

Entrance of the Bride:
A beautiful blend of Beneath Your Beautiful (Labrinth) flowing seamlessly into A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman accompanied Lucy’s walk down the aisle — a truly moving moment that captured both tenderness and optimism.

Signing of the Register:

  1. A Sky Full of Stars – Coldplay
  2. Sweet Child O’ Mine – Guns N’ Roses

Both pieces worked perfectly for this part of the ceremony — gentle enough to maintain the calm, yet full of emotion and melody.

Couple Exit:
To celebrate the new Mr and Mrs, we performed Paradise by Coldplay — a joyful and uplifting choice that filled the room as they walked out to cheers and applause.

A Creative and Warm Wedding Day

One of the lovely touches that made Lucy and Connor’s day especially memorable was the presence of live artist Clare Wilcocks, who was painting the ceremony scene as it unfolded. Her work added a wonderful creative energy to the day — guests were fascinated watching the canvas evolve in real time.

The burnt-orange florals tied everything together beautifully, bringing warmth and colour to the autumn setting. It’s always inspiring for us to see how each couple personalises the space, and Lucy and Connor’s attention to detail made the whole day feel effortlessly elegant.

A Kind Word and a Coffee

We’d also like to say a big thank-you to Sarah, the wedding coordinator at Quantock Lakes, who kindly brought us coffee before the ceremony while we were setting up. It’s those small gestures that make such a difference when we’re preparing for a performance, and it perfectly reflects the thoughtful, welcoming atmosphere the Quantock Lakes team create for both couples and suppliers.

Exploring Somerset After the Music

As we were only providing music for the ceremony on this occasion, we had the rare treat of a free afternoon once our instruments were packed away. With the sun still shining and autumn leaves all around, we decided to take a short drive to Dunster Castle, one of Somerset’s most picturesque landmarks. It was a perfect way to round off a wonderful morning — reflecting on the joy of the wedding while enjoying a little of Somerset’s history and countryside charm.

Our Thoughts

Performing at Quantock Lakes is always a pleasure — from the friendly staff and beautiful setting to the way music naturally fits into the venue’s relaxed and romantic atmosphere.

Thank you, Lucy and Connor, for choosing JAM Duo to provide your ceremony music, and to Sarah and the Quantock Lakes team for looking after us so well. It was a truly beautiful autumn wedding, and we were delighted to be a small part of it.
