When we were originally asked to perform at this events a few weeks ago we sadly had to decline as we had a wedding booked in Hampshire at the same time. Even when the timings of 2 events suggest we might be able to do more than one thing in a day, we are often quite reticent to do so. Let’s face it, weddings and parties are not exactly known for running on time.

That’s not to say it doesn’t happen but the events would have to be close together and a very big gap between the times of each for us to even consider trying to do more than one thing on a day.

Sadly, at least for our wedding couple, the day before their big day they called to say their wedding would have to be postponed until September. Luckily the new date was one we could do and so without any fuss we just moved their booking to the new date.

JAM Duo Performing for a Garden Party in Wiltshire

The Rotary Club Afternoon Tea

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

The brief was very simple. To perform outside at a garden party to entertain rotarians whilst they enjoyed Pimms and Afternoon Tea. Luckily despite the clouds overhead, the weather was kind to us and reasonably warm, albeit not sunny!

Setting up next to the Pimms Table (well why not!) we started playing as the Rotarians arrived. For these sorts of events we tend to perform a wide range of repertoire taking in Classical, a little jazz and some of our contemporary repertoire.

After playing for around an hour, we were then invited to join the ‘staff’ table for afternoon tea! Staff in this instance turned out to be the people who owned the lovely house we were at and in fact had made most of the fabulous cakes! Never one to turn down afternoon tea we certainly enjoyed partaking of home made cake!

We then carried on playing for another 45 minutes or so whilst the rotarians enjoyed tea and cake whilst listening to our performance.

JAM Duo came to our house today and the made a good event great. I happily strongly recommend them, they are a very special couple of musicians…
