Evie and Dave celebrated their wedding with family and friends at the beautiful Cardiff Golf Club, and JAM Duo were delighted to provide live music for both the drinks reception and the wedding meal. While the ceremony itself was held elsewhere, guests began arriving at the golf club around 3pm, greeted by the relaxed sounds of cello and piano drifting across the upstairs bar area. With its elegant setting and sweeping views over the course, the room provided the perfect backdrop for an afternoon filled with music, laughter, and celebration.
Drinks Reception – Creating the Atmosphere
As guests mingled and enjoyed drinks, we performed a vibrant mix of timeless classics, contemporary favourites, and cinematic themes. The playlist blended romance with fun energy, perfectly reflecting Evie and Dave’s personalities. Highlights included:
- Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley) – always a favourite for weddings, adding a touch of timeless romance.
- Wonderwall (Oasis) and Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve) – two iconic British anthems, must-haves for Evie and Dave.
- Dancing in the Moonlight (Toploader) – a brilliant upbeat choice that had everyone smiling.
- Dream a Little Dream – a piano solo moment that allowed the music to breathe gently across the space.
- A variety of contemporary covers such as Girls Like You (Maroon 5/Bridgerton), All of Me (John Legend), and Love Story (Taylor Swift).
The combination of elegant arrangements and live performance created a wonderful ambience as guests relaxed before the wedding breakfast.
Wedding Meal – Soundtracking a Feast
Once speeches were completed – with heartfelt words from the Father of the Bride, Evie’s sister (and bridesmaid), and Evie herself – the wedding party enjoyed a buffet-style meal accompanied by more live music from JAM Duo. This part of the day allowed us to lean into Evie and Dave’s love for cinematic soundtracks and meaningful melodies.
Some stand-out choices included:
- Accidentally in Love from Shrek and Married Life from Up – both “must” requests that brought charm and playfulness to the meal.
- The Shire Theme from Lord of the Rings, Romantic Flight from How to Train Your Dragon, and Jurassic Park – sweeping film music that sounded magical with cello and piano.
- My Heart Will Go On (Titanic) – a piece every guest recognised and enjoyed.
- A touch of whimsy with The Office theme as a piano solo and Under the Sea from Disney.
- Epic soundtracks like Now We Are Free (Gladiator), Game of Thrones, and the Harry Potter theme.
This eclectic mix of Disney, film scores, and classics really showcased the couple’s brilliant taste and gave the meal a joyous, cinematic soundtrack.
Cardiff Golf Club as a Wedding Venue
Cardiff Golf Club is a venue with plenty of character. The upstairs bar and dining room provided panoramic views across the course, creating a light and spacious setting for the celebration. It was the ideal place for music to flow naturally alongside conversation, speeches, and dining, and the combination of beautiful surroundings and Evie’s fabulous dress made for a truly memorable wedding atmosphere.
