Live Ceremony & Organ Music by JAM Duo

There is something timeless and deeply meaningful about a church wedding. For Jodie and James, their special day took place at the beautiful All Hallows Church in Great Mitton, a historic parish set in the heart of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley. JAM Duo were delighted to provide live music throughout the ceremony—on both piano and cello as well as the church organ—bringing a unique and personal soundtrack to this wonderful occasion.

All Hallows Church, Great Mitton

All Hallows is a parish church with centuries of history. Built of local stone, with its tall tower and peaceful churchyard, it sits proudly within the Ribble Valley countryside. The church has a warm and welcoming interior, with light filtering through stained glass and an atmosphere that balances reverence with celebration.

The Ribble Valley itself is a truly enchanting part of England. Nestled between the Forest of Bowland and the Pennines, it is known for its rolling hills, ancient woodlands, and picturesque villages. This landscape has long been associated with inspiration for writers, including J.R.R. Tolkien, who spent time in the area while working on The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Walking through the Ribble Valley, it’s easy to see why—its timeless beauty feels like stepping into a storybook.

Music for the Ceremony

Jodie and James had chosen a beautiful selection of music that combined classical elegance with contemporary favourites.

Pre-Ceremony

As guests arrived and settled into the pews, we created a warm and uplifting atmosphere with:

  • Blackbird – The Beatles
  • Concerning Hobbits – Howard Shore
  • Feeling Good – Nina Simone
  • Brown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison
  • Play the Game – Queen

This eclectic mix reflected the couple’s personalities perfectly—joyful, romantic, and full of character.

Entrance of the Bride

The processional was both creative and moving. The bridesmaids entered to the Adagio from Corelli’s Concerto Grosso in G minor (“Christmas Concerto”), seamlessly blending into Pachelbel’s Canon in D for the bride’s entrance. The transition worked beautifully, marking the moment with dignity and emotion.

Hymns on the Organ

As part of the service, Jules had the pleasure of accompanying two hymns on the church’s Wyvern electronic organ:

  • Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer
  • Morning Has Broken

Though not a traditional pipe organ, the Wyvern instrument was well suited to the church and provided a rich, resonant sound for the congregation to sing along with. Leading hymns is always a privilege, and it added a traditional dimension to the ceremony alongside our cello and piano repertoire.

Signing of the Register

During the signing, we performed:

  • Married Life (from Up)
  • Accidentally in Love – Counting Crows

Both pieces added a touch of whimsy and romance, capturing the joy of the moment while guests quietly reflected.

Couple Exit

The ceremony concluded in celebration with Happy Together by The Turtles—a fittingly upbeat and cheerful song to accompany Jodie and James as they walked out of church as husband and wife.

A Unique Church Wedding

What made this wedding particularly special was the blend of music: classical pieces, modern favourites, and traditional hymns, all brought together by live performance. The choices reflected Jodie and James’ individuality while respecting the beauty of the church setting.

Live music added so much more than a playlist ever could. The timing of the processional, the seamless transition between pieces, and the uplifting energy of the exit song all created an experience that was unique to this couple and this day.

Thank You

We would like to thank Jodie and James for choosing JAM Duo to provide the music for your wedding ceremony at All Hallows Church. It was a joy to be part of such a meaningful occasion in the heart of the Ribble Valley.

The setting, the music, and the love shared by all made this a truly memorable day, and we were honoured to play a role in it.

Final Thoughts

A church wedding carries centuries of tradition, but it is the personal touches that make it truly special. For Jodie and James, this meant an inspired selection of music—from Corelli and Pachelbel to The Beatles and The Turtles—combined with traditional hymns sung by family and friends.

All Hallows Church provided the perfect setting, while the Ribble Valley’s landscape offered a magical backdrop worthy of Tolkien himself.

At JAM Duo, we are always live—Jules on piano and organ, Anne-Marie on cello—and never use backing tracks or substitutes. It is this commitment to live performance that allows us to shape the music around the ceremony, creating unforgettable moments for each couple.
