There are wedding days that feel simply magical from start to finish, and Bethany and Connor’s celebration at The Warren Estate in Essex was one of them. Blessed with hot sunshine and blue skies, their day unfolded outdoors in a perfect balance of romance, joy, and music. For us at JAM Duo, it was a privilege to provide live cello and piano music for both their ceremony and drinks reception, all set against the stunning backdrop of this idyllic Essex venue.
The Warren Estate – A Beautiful Essex Wedding Venue
Nestled in the heart of the Essex countryside, The Warren Estate is one of the county’s most picturesque and versatile wedding venues. Combining elegant event spaces with beautifully landscaped grounds, it offers couples the opportunity to host both indoor and outdoor ceremonies in a setting that feels private, serene, and stylish.
The estate is surrounded by acres of parkland and woodland, creating a backdrop that is both natural and romantic. Outdoor ceremonies here are particularly special – the terraces and manicured gardens provide an ideal space for vows under the open sky, while guests enjoy sweeping views across the grounds.
For couples who want a blend of elegance and natural beauty, The Warren Estate is a wonderful choice. It has that rare ability to feel both grand and relaxed, formal yet welcoming – exactly the right atmosphere for a modern wedding.
We always enjoy performing at weddings in Essex, and The Warren Estate is certainly one of the standout venues in the county. With its thoughtful layout, spacious terrace, and opportunities for live music at every stage of the day, it provides the perfect canvas for celebrations like Bethany and Connor’s.
The Setting
The weather could not have been better. A hot, sunny day meant the ceremony could be held outdoors, and afterwards the drinks reception flowed seamlessly onto the terrace. For us as musicians, this type of setting is always a pleasure.
Anne-Marie brought her beautiful acoustic cello, while Jules played the Nord Stage piano, and together we found a shaded corner of the terrace that worked perfectly for both parts of the day. Performing outdoors always has its challenges – particularly on hot days – but at The Warren Estate, we were able to set up in a way that allowed us to perform comfortably while ensuring that the music carried clearly to all the guests.
There is something especially memorable about outdoor weddings. The combination of natural light, fresh air, and live music creates an atmosphere that recordings or playlists can never match. Every note seems to resonate not just in the space, but in the memory of the moment.
Ceremony Music – A Personal Soundtrack
Bethany and Connor’s ceremony was filled with thoughtful, heartfelt choices that reflected their personalities and their journey together. Before the ceremony began, as guests gathered and took their seats, we set the scene with a pre-ceremony programme that blended contemporary favourites with timeless melodies:
- “Video Games” – Lana Del Rey
- “Sweet Disposition” – The Temper Trap
- “Dreams” – Fleetwood Mac
- “Hoppípolla” – Sigur Rós
- “Better Together” – Jack Johnson
This mix of ethereal, romantic, and upbeat songs created an atmosphere of anticipation and emotion. From the dreamy tones of Sigur Rós to the warmth of Jack Johnson, each song added to the build-up as family and friends waited for the bride’s arrival.
When the time came for the bridal entrance, Beth looked absolutely stunning in her beautiful dress. Accompanied by her chosen song, “Crack the Shutters” by Snow Patrol, her entrance was unforgettable. The song’s soaring emotion and lyrics about light, love, and intimacy perfectly captured the spirit of the moment.
For the signing of the register, the couple chose two wonderful songs:
- “Come Away With Me” – Norah Jones
- “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” – Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
These provided a gorgeous contrast – Norah Jones’ piece brought soulful calm and intimacy, while Frankie Valli’s classic added a playful, romantic lift that had guests smiling.
To conclude the ceremony, Bethany and Connor walked back down the aisle as newlyweds to another Snow Patrol favourite: “Just Say Yes.” With its uplifting energy and optimistic message, it was the perfect soundtrack to the cheers and applause as they began married life together.
Drinks Reception – Sunshine and Celebration
Following the ceremony, guests gathered on the terrace for the drinks reception. Once again, the outdoor setting came into its own, with sunshine flooding the terrace and glasses of fizz in hand. We seamlessly transitioned from the ceremony space to our corner on the terrace, continuing to provide music as everyone mingled, chatted, and celebrated.
Beth and Connor had chosen some fantastic pieces for this part of the day, including a few that reflected their personal tastes and favourite films. Highlights included:
- “Jurassic Park Theme” – John Williams (a nod to Beth’s love of the film!)
- “Pink Pony Club” – Chappell Roan
- “Africa” – Toto
Alongside these, we performed a varied set of contemporary and popular favourites, keeping the mood light, fun, and celebratory. One of the joys of live cello and piano is the ability to reimagine songs from all genres – whether pop, rock, film, or jazz – and give them a distinctive new voice.
Guests loved hearing familiar tunes in this unique style, and we had so many lovely comments throughout the afternoon. The terrace at The Warren Estate was a wonderful backdrop for these performances, allowing the music to drift naturally across the conversations without ever being intrusive.

The Bride and Groom
Bethany and Connor were such a lovely couple to work with. From the first conversations about their music choices to the day itself, it was clear how much thought they had put into curating a soundtrack that reflected their love story.
Beth looked absolutely radiant as she entered the ceremony – her dress, her smile, and her chosen music combined into one of those moments that will stay with everyone who was there. Connor’s reaction as she walked down the aisle was full of emotion, and it was clear to see how deeply they cared for each other.
We are always honoured when couples trust us with such significant parts of their day. Music has the power to frame these moments, and we never forget the privilege of being the ones to provide it live.
JAM Duo in Essex
Essex is a county filled with beautiful wedding venues, from stately homes to barns, gardens, and country estates. We always enjoy the opportunity to travel here and perform for couples across the region. The combination of rural landscapes and accessible locations makes Essex one of the most popular wedding destinations in the UK, and The Warren Estate is a perfect example of why.
As live musicians, we love the flexibility that Essex venues offer – whether it’s playing inside elegant ceremony rooms, outdoors in gardens and terraces, or adapting seamlessly as the celebration moves from one space to another. Bethany and Connor’s wedding showed just how well music can integrate into these transitions, carrying the atmosphere from moment to moment.
Why Live Music Makes the Difference
One of the key points Bethany and Connor understood was the importance of live music at their wedding. Unlike playlists or backing tracks, live cello and piano can be perfectly timed to the flow of the day. For the bridal entrance especially, this makes a world of difference – we can adjust our playing to ensure that the music reaches its natural climax exactly as the bride arrives, creating a perfect moment.
Beyond timing, live music also creates atmosphere in a way that recordings cannot. It brings warmth, immediacy, and connection – whether it’s a tender ballad during the ceremony or a lively favourite at the drinks reception. Guests always notice the difference, and it adds a level of sophistication and romance that makes the day feel truly special.
At JAM Duo, we are proud to provide music that is always 100% live – no backing tracks, no pre-recorded accompaniments. Just the natural blend of cello and piano, performed with passion and precision, tailored to the moment.
